I have been dating a guy for 6 mnths. He told me in the beginning that he wasn't ready to be committed, but I decided to date him and see if things would be. I've been feeling that this is reflected in his low effort behavior. I did express to him that I would appreciate it if he tried more and he actually improved. He tried to text me, call me more often, introduce me to his friends and family. At some point, he was almost acting as if he was my boyfriend. However, I still feel that he doesn't want to get closer and that something is missing. He would text me a few words everyday and tried to call me a few times a week. Yet, I felt that we didn't get more emotionally connected. I told him I felt as if he did not want to talk to me sometimes. He thinks I am too negative and never have enough although he already tried to improve. He said I am too needy and that stops him from feeling more. I used to receive a lot more attention and care from other guys I dated. That's why I had the idea that this guy isn't really into me.

I asked him again how he felt, and he said he likes me a lot but still doesn't feel more for me, and this probably won't change in the future. He still wants to keep seeing me and doesn't want to date others. He said it's in the back of his mind that he might move away, so that probably holds him back from feeling more. However, he seems to realize as well that this could change if he was in love with me, but he said he doesn't.

I like this guy a lot, and I am confused what I really want. I don't think he will be a good long term partner because of some missing qualities. Yet, I like his company a lot, and the sex is great. On the other hand, I'm also afraid I would feel more and fall for him. In fact, I'm not even sure if I already did

Am I really too needy? Should I keep seeing him and focus on the present, or let it all go? I do not want to stop seeing him but I'm afraid of the consequences.

My boyfriend and I have been dating a while but I've noticed a few things about him recently that I don't want in a partner. He's homophobic, makes rasict jokes and he's not open minded to anything. he's school smart while I'm more emotially intelligent. I'm quite empithetic while he's apathetic and he makes fun of people with aids, cancer or facial deformities. I just dont know how he can find that funny. I dont think it's right, it's not their fault. we dont have the same views on life. I like to be optimistic and see the bigger picture while he isn't optimistic and he sees things one way or the other. I have fun hanging out with him, he has good qualities too and I don't want to lose what we have and I don't want it to be awkward, and maybe eventually he might mature. Should I stay or leave?

Hi. In case this sounds familiar I made another post yesterday, so this is a little like an "update" in a way but I'm still really confused about what to do.

My long distance boyfriend of two years and I are having some issues. However I'm not entirely sure if it's a rough patch or if it's just not going to work. There have been some bigger recurring differences between us (mainly he liking to have a certain amount of time alone and me wanting to spend a lot of time together) but I think that one could be worked out. There is also something else that has been bothering me however and that's just that we can't seem to be able to have a long, good, interesting conversation and that it just feels like he's generally uninvolved in a way when we do things together and this bothers me because it makes me feel a bit disconnected emotionally and that leads to me being somewhat unhappy. It sometimes doesn't really feel like he's there since he doesn't interact a lot. I have talked with him about this (several times!) and from the things he has said and the fact that it's been a recurring issue for a while it doesn't seem like this is going to change (?). Amongst other things he acknowledged the problem and told me that "that's how it's going to be" and just seems reluctant to make an effort on that front.

We do love eachother tho, and he does have some really nice qualities that I like so it would make me sad to lose this relationship, but I'm not sure if this is sustainable long term. (There are more good people out there tho, right? D:). It doesn't help that there have been some things that are out of our control preventing us from spending time together (outside of talking which... Doesn't really happen).

Is this a deal breaker or am I making too big of a deal out of things? Am I asking for too much? What should my next step (s) be?
