Hey everybody, I'm new here.
I've been checking out the nice guys section on reddit for the last week and reading some of the things here, and I'm still not entirely clear on something...

When people complain about "Nice Guys", do you specifically mean "Guys who pretend to be nice, but are actually manipulators or jerks" or do you actually mean that you don't like "Guys who are nice to people"?

It just seems to me, that if these are meant to be separated that people should be using some distinctive phrase to indicate that.

If niceness is indeed a turn off, is it just being overly nice? Being nice too frequently? Being nice too soon (We're talking but not dating yet) or what specifically about being nice makes guys less attractive? Or is that just not the case, and it's other things causing men who are nice to fail in their romantic pursuits?

Please not that I'm not asking why women seem to be attracted to "Bad Boys" as I feel like that's a separate topic. I've just been seeing a LOT of stuff on FB and YouTube about men saying that women hate nice guys, and that you don't find them attractive and was wondering if that's actually the case for any of you women.

I can see why being nice wouldn't necessarily be a "Turn On" but is it true that being nice is a "Turn Off" for some people? More than happy to get perspectives from men as well as women.

I'm an Indian living in Atlanta and most of my girlfriends were white, and without trying to brag, we're also extremely good looking. Whenever we go out in public, white guys always harass us, try hitting on her right in front of me, make racial slurs against me, and call her a lose "for going for the Indians". And it's only white guys that do this. When I dated a super model type black girl last year, no one harassed us.

One of my white friends told me that when he sees a minority with a hot white girl, he feels a knee-jerk reaction of anger. He told me he is only attracted to white girls and as long as whites are sticking to whites, there will be a girl for him, but when minorities get some white girls, his dating pool is limited. Obviously he doesn't harass people and is supportive of me and once even threatened to flatten some guy who was harassing me, but he can't help how he instinctively feels. So I was wondering if his feelings were the root cause of the bullying me and my girlfriends have had to endure. Do white guys hate it when minorities date hot white girls? I get that Atlanta is in the South, but I don't experience racism in any other situation. In fact older guys tend to be more racist and they have never said anything about my dating. It's only guys my age and a little older (basically who still have 20 year old girls as potential dating prospects) who harass me.
