One day the subject of clothes shopping came up, and I said, "I prefer going to a store and seeing how it fits, rather than shopping online for clothes." A guy nearby said something along the lines of, "Why? All that you really need to know is the size." It was clear that he didn't worry about the color, or the pattern, or how pieces looked together. (By the way, his nickname is Sweatpants Guy, so that gives you an idea of what his favorite article of clothing is. Sweatpants go with literally any t-shirt ever.) Anyway, that got me thinking about how many more options we have as girls and women in clothing stores. I am someone who does not necessarily like to shop but enjoys looking put together. Guys, however, when they walk into a clothing store, are confronted with several pairs of pants in gray, black, beige. (At least from what I've observed.) Their selection is very narrow compared to a woman's. Some women love a good splurge at their favorite clothing store; some couldn't care less. How do guys feel about the choices you are offered in clothing stores? The guys I know do not seem concerned with how they are dressed, and I wonder if it is in part because of a lack of variety in stores. If more clothing choices and styles were offered, would you be happier?

I know U. As. Sizes are seemingly 00 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 ... but this is not accurate based on world scale sizing. It only works in U. S. Which is basically useless when comparing it to the rest of the world sizing - still basically beginnng at 6 or 4 equivalent to the old U. S. numbering system. The u. s. does not start with the same size but at smaller numbers- People just got heavier. If you compare European sizes now, to the way the u. s. used to be, Size 6 is still relatively early on in the numbers.. Probably equivalent to a u. s. 2?



When size 6 was small in the u. s. what size woujd it be today?

If 6 was small... why did they begin at 6.. why not zero? Or 1 or 2- to leave rio for extra small.

what wouid a 00 in the U. S. be in Europe? Or in1950 in the U. S.

Its difficult enough funding clothing that is the sane size between different labels. But add n different labels and different countries and it’s impossible!

i like shooping at vintage shops , or I like vintage clothing while I hate shopping. I certainly don’t want to have to try on ten different syzesxjist to find one size.. The clothing is from all over the place and different companies many no longer exist. It is impossible to go by the size that is written and know what I’m ending up with based on the current 00 - 16 common sizes , sizing system. It wouid be great to look at a number and think ok I know what that actually is.

What does it all mean

why not just do inches like in men’s clothing. Why do we need to be a size that encompasses many sizes and varies country to country, label to label?
