Around March, 2015, I had a first date with Susan. Unfortunately, she had a family emergency a few days later and she went out of town for several weeks. In the meanwhile, I started dating someone else, I thought they would be a good match for me, and when Susan returned, I truthfully explained what had happened and I told her that I wanted to date the other girl exclusively. In retrospect, it was a bad decision.

I recently saw Susan on POF, started messaging her, and she was receptive to the idea of meeting for dinner. Our first date happens to be on Valentine's Day! (I recently posted another question about how to handle a first date on Valentine's Day.) Every good woman should receive flowers on Valentine's Day, so this is what I will give her:

It feels a bit peculiar seeing her a second time five years after the first date, but my memories of her are all good and I am excited about seeing her again. I should have ditched the other girl and kept dating Susan in 2015, but that's another story!

What's the longest gap you have had between a first and second date?

I don't have a long term partner now but I have a first date this weekend and I am hoping that it will turn into a second date the following weekend. If there is a second date, should I ask her out on Valentine's Day (Friday) or on Saturday? Do women who are not in relationships hope to be asked out on Valentine's Day or is a first or second date on Valentine's Day awkward? If I do ask her out on Valentine's Day, should I send her flowers because of the holiday or is that too much too soon?
