Aside from showing the desperation of Putin by recruiting North Korean troops, if they deploy to Ukraine that is a VERY DANGEROUS escalation as DefSec has said they are "fair game" for Ukrainian troops using USA provided weapons.

Given this "Murphy's Law" scenario, should the US stop arming Ukraine?

Trump has been having private conversations with Putin; do you think he got advance notice on this issue?

DoD leaks say USA fears that China will invade Taiwan while everyone is busy in Ukraine. Do you see that as a real possibility?

DoD leaks also fear that Israel will exploit the situation to annex the occupied territories and/or use the distraction to REALLY fuck up Iran. Do you see that as a real possibility?

I've been encountering quite a few Democrats using misogyny to explain Harris's lack of support, and thought what if it was reversed, would Democrats be misogynist. Side note, Harris's lack of support is due to her being a terrible candidate and not misogyny (except a small minority that makes up less than 2% of voters).

We're not talking about a situation where both parties equally love America, and just differ on some policy. The Democrats are NOT exactly JFK-style anymore. I think people who support them are a threat.

Polls are showing that many people are voting for Harris because they hate Trump, while others are voting for Trump because they can't stand Harris.

Rather than voting for someone, they vote against the other one.

Is that a sad commentary on the state of American politics?

In June, a group of Barrhead, Alberta, residents started a petition to remove all LGBT rainbow crosswalks and “Pride” flags from municipal property.

Now, the town says its Neutral Space Bylaw would in effect ban any “decorations” or designs on crosswalks that are not in the standard scheme. It would also only allow official flags to be flown on all municipal-owned buildings.

The bylaw states that there will be “no grandfathering of any existing crosswalks or flags that contravene the new bylaw,” which means the town’s existing Pride and disability crosswalks would have to be removed.

Earlier this year, residents in the Alberta town of Westlock passed a bylaw that bans all non-governmental flags from municipal buildings and mandates that crosswalks only be painted in the standard, white-striped pattern.

Emo, a small town in Ontario, was ordered to appear in front of a Human Rights Tribunal for rejecting a 2020 motion to proclaim June as “Pride” month and fly the LGBT “Pride” flag.

“That summarizes the situations unfolding across North America right now... The point of rainbow crosswalks isn’t ‘celebration’ – it’s colonization, with punishment meted out harshly to those who dare to express their disagreement or discomfort,” Jonathon Van Maren wrote.

I am kind of diving into the spectrum of the American voting system this year, and how much abortion is a big topic. So I'm wondering do you personally know someone that has had an abortion? I'm trying to find out if it is something very common there.

Maybe I am out of the loop, do that many women get abortions on a regular basis? Or is it more the possibility that they may need to get one and want to have the option open? Or something else?

In the U. S. it tends to be the opposite. But in Europe, I once complained online about how rude the Danes in Copenhagen were and someone commented, "The Danes that are friendly are usually Liberals."

I noticed this in Italy too. Rome is Conservative and the people were assholes, but Venice and Pisa are Liberal and the people were much friendlier.

And on the Cayman Islands there was this British guy running a museum, he was a Labour party supporter and anti-Brexit and he gave us a free ride to our next destination.

The Eastern European nationalities on the other hand are very Conservative and have a reputation for being assholish. Most of the Russians, Ukrainians and Romanians I've met were assholes. Slovak and Balkan customer service was also very unpleasant.

I think the difference between Europe and the US is that a lot of the Conservatives in Europe are nationalists and hate foreigners, while the Liberal Europeans are more open to foreigners.

Though there are exceptions of course. But from my experiences, as long as you don't question or disagree with their politics, Liberal Europeans do tend to be friendlier towards foreigners.

Am I wrong?
