Search Results: what to wear on a date jeans

So there's a girl at work who for one week straight until a Saturday I noticed has been staring at me even when I notice and take a quick look back to see if she's still staring. I couldn't really tell if she smiled back or what because I would look for one second and look away and saw she would keep her gaze until I was gone plus she had a mask on a few times. She wears glasses but I notice sometimes she takes her glasses off and puts them on and I tried to to notice or take a guess when and I don't want to say she is but she might be copying me. Finally a week after she was staring at me and I didn't say anything to her I finally go up to her and ask her for her name which she tells me, I introduce myself to her and tell I'm probably interested in getting to know her more she says okay and after that she kinda ignores me. She didn't tell me she had a boyfriend when I said I wanted to get to know her but deep down I have a feeling she has a boyfriend and she was playing with me the whole time. Before moving on I'm going to give a few things about her, one of them being I notice she kind of keeps to herself so that kind of gives me hints she either keeps to herself or she doesn't want to be bothered by anyone. Not sure but sometimes she goes home early which gives me hints of her having a child. She's a light skin Spanish girl which gives me hints that she is playing with me since Spanish women don't date dark skin men and I'm what you would call a black American, she's not exotic hot Spanish woman but moreso homely cute, and her work clothes isn't something that makes her stand out it's more loose fit baggy jeans. The reason I didn't go over to her and went a week later is because I wasn't and still not sure if she actually is interested in me because I'm old (41) and she looks young, she's Spanish and I'm black, and this is a first for me. Is she playing me or am I being to BP'ed.

For example to wear to the office or to a date or just out shopping.

I would be dressed smart casual with this watch. Clean Vans shoes, dark chinos or grey jeans and a nicely fitting white tee (or button up shirt if it's a nicer event like a wedding).

No other jewelry or sunglasses or anything like that. Just clean clothes and a watch.

Basically I'm 36 and I want to start dressing a little nicer when I go out. 🙂

(I do also just wear sweatpants sometimes if I'm at work or I'm out skateboarding. — But then I'd go with a less dressy and less fragile G-Shock so that's not really relevant to this question.)

I ask because I know that the 1960s and early 1970s were pivotal times in the USA and Europe. I will even go as far as to say that Europe is even further away with gender roles than the USA in some ways, but when did this shift happen?

Each generation is clearly more and more equal than the previous... I ask because this is a very progressive time we have lived in over the years and so much has changed; even dating is so different from how it was in our parents generation. (Now everything is more 50/50; the woman pays her half on dates or they take turns every other time paying for each other; women ask men out now, etc., etc.)

Years ago, women were not allowed to work, not allowed to date or have sex before marriage (they were expected to be virgins on their wedding night; imagine marrying someone you are not even sexually compatible with; that must have been torture and felt like a trap), not allowed to vote, not allowed to wear denim jeans, not allowed to wear sneakers, not allowed to have short hair, and not allowed to do anything without her husband's permission first. Some women were not even allowed to have friends; it was so bad! Clearly, things have changed. In many homes, the mother is the only parent raising the kids and working, or she earns more than her husband. You very rarely see a housewife. There are a few reasons for this.

* Women were very unhappy about not being able to work, earn their own money, and have the freedom to use the money they earned.
* Many women felt they missed out on life and spent their adult lives in the house, only raising kids.
* It is simply too expensive for only one spouse to work now.

Imagine how bad things used to be for women. None of that happens today.

I know that in some countries, gender roles are still not as advanced, sadly.

But when did this really start to be noticeable?
