There have only been 3 psychiatric hospitals that I have been to in my life that I view as at least somewhat beneficial. Two were in Atlanta, Georgia area (Ridgeview in Smyrna and Peachford) and one in Nashville, Tennessee (Skyline). This was because they kept the patients busy with therapy programming all day with a proactive therapy approach.

The rest (all in Tennessee) have been mostly crap, and I wouldn't doubt they are money schemes. While there is no abuse or draconian practices, they are just temporary nursing homes with enhanced safety features and supervision. There is very little programming, little access to a therapist, minimal communication, and all they do is heavily medicate you, feed you, and watch you as you color on coloring sheets and watch TV. There is very little to no aftercare arrangements, leaving these places as revolving doors.

Its amazing how im 42 and still learning things about myself. So what i mean is lets say i just got off work and want to say do the laundry at home. I need a small maybe 10-15 minute buffer before i go ahead with it. You might also call it simply a pause to simply allow my brain to reset itself and brace for the next activity so i can go at it with 💯 mental energy and clarity.

Why These Short Pauses Matter

Constant activity with no breaks can lead to mental fatigue, shorter attention spans, and more stress. The mind works best when it has a little space to reset. Even a couple of minutes is enough to:

- Process what you just finished, so nothing lingers in the background
- Calm any tension or anxiety before moving on
- Give your brain a break from always being “on”

I've been gaining weight lately and I'm trying to correct that, so I weigh myself at least once a week, sometimes more often. I often see my weight goes up or down +/- 5-6 pounds (+/- 3 kg) over a few days.

Studies on bacteria in reusable water bottles

Several studies have been done to quantify the bacterial contamination of reusable water bottles, though results vary depending on the testing methods and type of bottle.

A 2017 study by EmLab P&K tested several bottles after one week of use without cleaning. The results showed millions of bacteria on some of the bottles, with several containing MORE bacteria than a pet's food bowl.

A similar 2018 study from Treadmill Reviews found that the average reusable water bottle contained MORE bacteria than a kitchen sink or computer keyboard.

"Chug" or "gulp" water bottles were found to be at least 5x safer than internal straw models
