3 moDepends on the gym. When I was going to this fancy expensive gym that my friends would let me come to once in a while as a guest, I showered after working out every time. It was a luxurious feel, because they had a pool and sauna and the best shampoo and soap and everything. I felt like $100 after going to that gym. I had a pump and I'd come out fresh and clean.
But when I go to crowded cheaper gyms, I tend to just want to get out of there fast after a workout because of all the people and the facilities are less maintained and less lux.10 Reply

3 moI’m failing to understand what they could possibly find weird about showering after you workout , assuming that’s what you go to the gym for.
I don’t use gyms anymore as they frustrate me being full of posers who seem to be there for anything but using the equipment and working out.. which I just cannot understand.
I have an area at home where I have free weights , bench and walking / running machine , that’s plenty for me and ironically much cheaper than using gyms.
But , if I did use the gym I would def shower 🚿 that’s a no brainer00 Reply
3 moAs most would expect when playing an outside sport in South Florida you are going to sweat and for me a stinky sweat so yes unless I"m going straight home I shower in the clubhouse locker room. Nothing at all weird about it and we even have other women like myself who are not all that bothered by being nude in a group. Even in the steam room I will take a towel to sit on not cover up with. It seems to be a mixed bag at our place.

3 moI have my own gym, but when I did do the public gym, I'd shower anywhere else. High School and Military... both are public showers, no stalls. I wasn't alone on the no showers thing either... all the other dudes never did. When there was no other choice yeah, but when we're not forced to get naked and shower with each other... only the gays would get in there and walk around butt ass naked. At least on a ship we had shower stalls.
10 ReplySometimes depends on what I am doing after. If I am going right home I usually shower at home instead. The crowd isn't a factor for me. And if I am gross enough I will shower before going home. Depends on the day for sure. I am more likely to shower there in the summer than the winter also.
10 ReplyI only shower at the gym as a last resort. There are always creepy guys walking around the locker room naked. There's no apparent reason other than they can.

It sounds like you have some insecurity.
3 moI don’t find it odd, showers are there for a reason to get cleaned off after an intense workout getting off the dirt and sweat.
I personally shower after hitting the gym.
Let your friends judge, at least you are clean when you get home or free to go about your day in general.00 Reply- 423 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.
3 moI only shower at the gym if I'm going somewhere else afterwards.
I won't, if I'm just going home since I can just shower there.

Anonymous(36-45)3 moI don't want someone elses athlete's foot. And I like my bathroom.
I really hate it when guests use my shower so long because they don't know the value of water and they don't have to pay on base for water, energy, trash.
They behave rude. One guy I think showered long becaue he need not to pay to waste my water. But what can I say? Stop showering?
00 ReplyI have showered after a workout, I don’t walk around nude though like the older men do, I cover up with my towel.

Men must have a different dynamic in the locker room than women

3 moIf it’s a work day, always. If it’s a weekend, it depends on my workout. I always shower at the gym after i swim. If i lift, i wait to shower when i get home.
00 Reply433 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I always do. I try to go at times when it is less crowded.
10 Reply4.9K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I usually do but there are some days when the locker room is really crowded and I just can't deal with it so I go home to shower.
03 Reply- 3 mo
A little fear of crowds or just locker room crowds?
- 3 mo
It gets so crowded there is noplace to stand near my locker and get my clothes and sometimes there are no available showers and I have to wait outside. It seems to be getting worse too. Next June when my membership runs out I might start looking for another gym. My workouts have been getting stale anyway and maybe I need a gym with a different vibe

Okay
3 moThe gym is at my apartment complex, it doesn't even have a shower and my apartment is less than a block south so it's not an issue.

I dont like the hassle of bringing soaps etc
- 3 mo
That makes sense, I bring my own, by having a drawstring bag that i leave in my gym bag because of all my skin creams, makeup, shampoos, conditioner, razor, etc. . .
- 3 mo
Its all extra stuff. Maybe if j was a guy with 4in1 shower gel
I always do, but then I do sweat a bit

I always sweat a lot
I have my own gym. It's in my shed and consists of nothing more than two 25 pound barbells and a futon as a weight bench.

Because they don't shower at the gym, apparently being naked in a public place is weird.
