Growing up, our parents' rules often felt like a huge drag. Whether it was an early bedtime, having screen time limited, or being forced to clean your room every weekend, we all figured our parents were just trying to ruin our fun. But looking back now that we're older, some of those annoying rules actually taught us habits we totally need today.

For example, getting forced to log off screens or having phones banned at the dinner table felt super annoying back then. But now as an adult, realizing how much late-night scrolling ruins your sleep or how nice it is to actually talk face-to-face without a phone buzzing makes you look back and see the point.

Another big one is having to do chores or save your own money from gifts or jobs. Hating it when you're younger is a given, but having the discipline to keep your space clean and manage your cash is a total lifesaver now.

What about you guys? What was a rule your parents made that you really disliked growing up, but now completely appreciate?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how conditioned we are to look for very specific "green flags" in dating, while completely overlooking the small habits that actually reveal a person’s true character. We talk about grand gestures, expensive dates, or instant chemistry, but real life isn't a romantic film. Sometimes, the things that look like red flags at first glance are actually signs of emotional maturity, while the "green flags" turn out to be total warning signs.

For example, a guy or a girl who prefers a quiet night in instead of going out to a loud club or party every weekend might seem boring or anti-social at first glance. But in reality, it often means he/she values meaningful conversations, knows how to protect his/her peace, and prefers investing his/her energy into quality time rather than superficial socializing.

Another classic example is someone who takes their time opening up or doesn't immediately share their entire life story on date one. While some might view this as being closed off or hiding something, it's frequently just a sign of healthy boundaries and someone who protects their vulnerability until they know they can trust you. On the flip side, someone who tells you you're "the one" after two weeks feels like a romantic green flag, but it's usually a massive red flag for love-bombing.
