Search Results: getting into college high school

Hey so I recently transferred from a community college to a top ten Computer Science program in the US.
At my CC, i was really active on campus; had a job, volunteered, had one of the highest GPAS (top 10%) at my school in my degree, etc. I really want to be just as active at my new school but it's huge. I was talking to an adviser about getting into research, finding a job, etc. and she said it's pretty competetive and I most likely wouldn't find one my first year. But, as a transfer student I need to graduate within 2-2.5 (max 3 if i double major) years. So, realistically i feel like i want to do a lot of things but the feasibility isn't realistic as a transfer student.
At the same time, I just want to say screw the adviser and go ahead and try; such as getting a job on campus, double majoring in math (she advised not too), and doing whatever i want. I just feel really anxious that I won't be as successful as i was at my previous college.

does anyone have any advice? ideally, id like get into a good (top ten) phd program in computer science or computer engineering.

My ex-bf who is a year ahead of me in high school. Is about to go to college broke up with me last Monday when school was nearly ending through text saying that he honestly doesn't see this going anywhere, he told me that i ws starting the problems, that he couldn't date all this time and that he knew what he was getting into with me i kept asking what he meant by that but he kept saying that he doesn't know. He was only romantic through texts saying that he wanted to be my first kiss and he sent me pictures of couples cuddling and kissing saying that he wanted that with me but he never held my hand, he never asked me out on a date, he never kissed me he just gave me hugs and we spent time together in school. We had a lot of arguments through text because of this. He said that he doesn't show pda especially since i am not outgoing. Now that we broke up i told him that he broke my heart even though he was kind of sweet about it in the text. he now acts like i don't exist he doesn't initiate texts anymore except for that one time to ask if i was okay and he doesn't even try to see me anymore. This was a lame relationship but it was my first so i am here hurt and he is unchanged i wasn't his first. He told me that we wanted different things that he didn't want anything serious. And i recently did something stupid, i wrote to him telling him how much i missed him and he ignored it and when i asked him why he ignored me he said twice that we are just friends. He is leaving and he isn't even going to say good bye to me.
