Other passengers aimed their smartphones toward a woman being raped on a SEPTA train, police say. But no one intervened.

The rape of a passenger on a SEPTA train one night last week lasted about six minutes, and other passengers not only looked on but appeared to point their smartphones at the assault as it happened, police said Monday.

But the only person to call 911 during the attack was an off-duty SEPTA employee, whose quick thinking allowed Transit Police officers to arrive three minutes later, interrupt the assault, and arrest the alleged rapist, newly filed records show.

“We want everyone to be angry, disgusted, and to join us in being resolute in keeping our system safe,” Transit Police Chief Thomas Nestel III said Monday at a news conference. “We need the public to notify us when they see something that seems to be unusual.”

The man charged in the attack, Fiston Ngoy, told police that he recognized the woman on the train and approached her to start a conversation and that their encounter was consensual. She told police that account was completely false, according to the affidavit of probable cause for his arrest.

Investigators say that the victim was alone when Ngoy, 35, sat down next to her in the railcar Wednesday night and that he ignored her pleas to go away. That account, along with the violent attack that followed, was corroborated by SEPTA surveillance footage, the affidavit said.

Ngoy remained in custody Monday in lieu of $18,000 bail, awaiting an Oct. 25 preliminary hearing in Upper Darby.

The assault took place just before 10 p. m. Wednesday as the train on the Market-Frankford Line headed west toward Upper Darby. It was unclear Monday how crowded the train was at the time, but Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said that had bystanders intervened, the victim may have been spared from the attack.

Billie Eilish calls out Texas over abortion law during performance in Austin: 'I'm sick and tired of old men'

Billie Eilish slammed the state of Texas over its recent controversial abortion law while performing at Austin City Limits over the weekend.

The Grammy-winning artist took the stage at the show to perform some of her hits. However, she stopped at one point to discuss politics and pulled no punches when it came to denouncing the abortion law.

The star admitted that she almost didn’t attend the show as an act of protest about the law, which went into effect on Sept. 1 after being upheld in a 5-4 decision by the U. S. Supreme Court. It is the strictest abortion law in the country. Critics say many women don’t yet know they’re pregnant at six weeks – around the time when a fetal heartbeat can first be detected – and the law makes no exceptions for rape or incest. It also allows citizens to sue providers of anyone helping women get an abortion.

"I'm sick and tired of old men," Eilish said. "Shut the f--- up about our bodies."

Eilish continued: "When they made that s--- a law, I almost didn't want to do the show, because I wanted to punish this f---ing place for allowing that to happen here. But then, I remembered that it's you guys that are the f---ing victims, and you deserve everything in the world."

She concluded with a sort of call to action by calling on concertgoers to "tell them to shut the f--- up" before raising her middle finger, prompting a not insignificant number of people in the crowd to do the same.

Why should an unborn baby has more rights than pregnant women since women dont have a right to use someone's organs against their will? If you are a pro life, would you be ok to have the same right as pregnant women? If not, why?
My opinion to the texas law:
It is impossible to notice that you are pregnant at the 6th week. You can get still pregnant although you use contraceptives. What about rape victims? Rape victims are already mentally unstable and you also want to force them to give birth?
The fetus is also dependent on your uterus to survive. If the fetus should have the same rights like everyone then we should have the right to abort 'cause i dont have a right to use someone's organs against their will to survive.
The mental health affects the unborn baby too. A woman who is forced to give birth will face mental issues and she would not really care about her health at this point which is bad for the unborn kid. A woman can even have misscarriage if she eats to much fastfood. I dont believe that that these women can give birth to healthy kids. Pregnant women with drug and alcohol addiction or women who smoke affect their unborn kid in a very bad way too.
It is important that the kids are healthy because statistically unhealthy kids, teenagers etc. dont get adopted. The adoption centers are already full and so where tf are the pro lifers? Go fucking adopt them, instead of making them have shit life without parents. Statistically kids who grow up without parents tend to be criminals and tend to be victims of sex traficking etc. Any pro lifer who dont adopt is sadistic/hypocritical since they dont give a fuck what happens to the kid after it is born and they just create a generation of criminals and broken kids. It is also ridiculous to punish women for abortion. The jails are already full. Rapists, pedophiles etc. are outside but you care about innocent women having abortion?
I am actually more sorry for the unwanted kids who will end up having a bad life
