Search Results: meeting new people online

So we are 4 guys renting a townhouse. Me (A) and another guy (B) are from the city we are renting the house in. The third (C) is in the same state but in another city, the fourth one (D) is out of state.
When we met, A and B started house hunting, viewing houses and meeting with realtors. B and D did not participate even in searching for houses online.
B found two houses that were willing to lease to us. We took our time and viewed both houses and got one of them. We visited our future house several times to take pictures, ask questions about the community, drop of the payments to the realtor, etc. I am also transferring one of the utility connections from my current place to our new place so that we don't have to open another account and pay another deposit. We agree that D would be one of the two main leases on the application since he has a higher credit score. He has to provide a credit report, previous landlord's recommendation and a copy of previous utility bills. That is it.
Now comes the question of room allocation.
We agreed that B did most of the job in terms of finding the house. I do not contest that, but I believe that I was the second person who did put effort in terms of getting the house. I do believe that me and B should have the right to pick our rooms first. D contests by saying that him doing all the extra paperwork equates my effort in getting the house, even though I offered to get the same paperwork done in the very beginning but due to score differences we opted for him. Now he is saying that he has the right to choose rooms second because he did all the "extra paperwork".
Overall, it looks like a guy from out of state who did not even bother house hunting online gets a nice house with a great room while a person (me) who actually spent hours searching and meeting people is thought of putting less effort into this.
I believe I should before him. What do you think?
