Search Results: getting respect at work

Inspired by a story I read in which a couple are fighting because she wants him to clean, and cook dinner more, but he works a lot more hours, comes in late from work, and has less free time. She wouldn't let him hire a cleaner, or order food for them as a compromise though.

I personally know one or two people who are like that. Who, on principle, will always want to do household chores no matter how much money they have, but then get upset/angry with people living with them for not helping (while shutting down any of their offers to hire help).

I respect that view on life, but I personally believe that if you can afford to pay for a cleaner, gardener, take-out, etc. instead of doing these things yourself, then no one has a right to get mad at you if they refuse to allow you do that but the chores don't get done as a result. It just strikes me that for those people; a partner, family member, etc. specifically doing the chore is more important to them than the chore getting done. For me; Time is more valuable than money.

But thinking about it, I got really curious about where other people stand on this issue. So, are you the type to pay for chores to get done if you can afford it, or the type to do them no matter what (and get upset when people sharing the living space don't help)?

I've had a hard time finding someone to date or marry. I dated one girl for a long time and almost married her and she decided we couldn't be together over her religion and went and married another guy.
It took a long time for my heart to heal and I tried dating again. Only to be a rebound the next girl was only stringing me along until she found what she wanted.
Last girl I talked to was a connection so much like the first girl, I thought it was a game changer. But she told me she's not looking for a relationship and she's not all that attracted to me.

Losing the religious girl shattered me and I was in a state of depression for a few years. I got hurt at work, I gained 60 pounds and struggled with work.

I'm trying to turn it around but I don't think I can. I'm tired of getting hurt and wasting my time on people who don't feel the same about me. I just don't feel good enough anymore.

My confidence and respect are just absolutely shot and I don't know what else to do. I've tried putting myself out there but it keeps biting me.

I don't know what else to do except stop looking and keep to myself and just do nothing.
