Past the 21st century and into the 22nd, that is. For quite some time now (like most of my life) I've had very serious doubts about our capacity to survive, overcome our challenges and carry on, and I'm not alone in this view (ex. Martin Rees and Stephen Hawking were also extremely sceptical and pessimistic).
In cosmology there is the concept, within the context of the Fermi Paradox, of 'The Great Filter', which is basically an apparently insurmountable obstacle, natural or otherwise (ex. technological) that the vast and overwhelming majority of lifeforms throughout the universe simply cannot surmount, and which leads directly to their extinction. At the moment, we seem to have many more than just one, and they keep appearing, they keep piling up, and it would be nothing short of miraculous if we ever managed to overcome any one of them. Some examples include:
a. Environmental stresses and strains, like loss in biodiversity, and polymers in the food chain.
b. The inherent inability of mankind to overcome its base, primitive instincts, and renounce violence once and for all.
c. Petty tribalism, nationalism, "patriotism", and other such intellectual handicaps and absurdities.

The United States today is, once again, headed for civil war, and, once again, it cannot bear to face it. The political problems are both structural and immediate, the crisis both longstanding and accelerating. The American political system has become so overwhelmed by anger that even the most basic tasks of government are increasingly impossible.

The legal system grows less legitimate by the day. Trust in government at all levels is in freefall, or, like Congress, with approval ratings hovering around 20%, cannot fall any lower. Right now, elected sheriffs openly promote resistance to federal authority. Right now, militias train and arm themselves in preparation for the fall of the Republic. Right now, doctrines of a radical, unachievable, messianic freedom spread across the internet, on talk radio, on cable television, in the malls.

The consequences of the breakdown of the American system is only now beginning to be felt. January 6 wasn’t a wake-up call; it was a rallying cry. The Capitol police have seen threats against members of Congress increase by 107%. Fred Upton, Republican representative from Michigan, recently shared a message he had received: “I hope you die. I hope everybody in your family dies.” And it’s not just politicians but anyone involved in the running of the electoral system. Death threats have become a standard aspect of the work life of election supervisors and school board members. A third of poll workers, in the aftermath of 2020, said they felt unsafe.

I have consistently observed certain kind of up down up pattern in my real life. First I ignored my actions by thinking it as childish but, then I started to observe a certain pattern. My grades were falling and I had difficulty in maintaining consistency. Even if I succeeded to get good marks, it overwhelmed me so much that in upcoming semesters I fail in my exams knowing full well that it is not good to procrastinate or wait till very last moment. I could not make time tables or follow a routine life. I have planned so much to do in winter weekend and even bought subscriptions to home meditation and workouts but still I could not do, nor I could complete my online courses which were due for upcoming month. Only thing I did was to fester about it, get anxious and watch Netflix. When Netflix series gets over i switch to Amazon prime video or Disney plus subscription or watch YouTube videos or those shows that I don't normally watch just to escape the pending work. This behavior increases ten folds before exams. I know the subject, like the subject but could not complete a single page in one day knowing full well that it can impact my grades. I could not maintain my attention long just to talk to people get impatient and roam in my own dream world like a space cadet. I am not able to make friends , connect with new ones or enjoy my vacations peacefully as my mind wanders here and there and everywhere. I planned to explore France and bought a French learning subscription but the results were same , and so was for Tinder to find love this Christmas. I haven't got any matches yet , but I doubt that my relationship will last with my current emotional behavior. I am overreacting , self sabotaging and creating chaos small things for absurd reasons. and getting lost in memories of past and it repeats over and over. My new year resolutions are pending. I am struck in a time loop of repeating mistakes and not able to move forward. I received advices that I am putting in polls

I just failed out of Software Engineering/Computer Science school of University due to overwhelming amount of stress I've been dealing with for the past couple of years which involves a combination of personal finance debt, working, and taking rigorous math and Computer science courses (that all require serious life dedication) all at once.

I guess now I'm just history with absolutely no where to go. Might as well just just lose the will to live.
