This happened at my work, it's been very interesting to see it unfold.

Two co-workers are married, but in different departments. They have a joint budget, that they pool all their income to pay bills and have designated money that they get each month to do whatever they want with. They both make very similar income.

The husband, saved up most of his money for many years, because he wanted to go on a nice vacation.

This was not a secret as he had let his wife know this was his plan and she should save too if she wanted to go.

She spent all of hers and did not save up anything. He figured that meant she did not want to go.

When he had several thousands of dollars, he decided he was going to take a two week vacation, without her.

His wife felt like he should take her too, using his money and he should take a shorter vacation and not do it as grand as he had planned so they both could go.

It caused some hard feelings on both sides.

What would you do?

My brother used to live within a 2 day drive which allowed me and the family to visit him and my nephews at least 2x a year. Then he moved clear across the country near ZERO family, so the only way I can see them, is if I fork over a ton of money and fly. I am on a life goals plan that requires a lot of saving and sacrifice, especially after my business took a deep hit during the brunt of Covid. As a result of that, its been non stop work all hours of the day and night because with the online business, it never sleeps.

Like most people in this situation burning the candle at both ends, I need a vacation, but my brother has been asking me to come visit them and laying on the guilt trip. Aside from the money issue, because they have had no babysitters or family coming regularly because of the distance, whenever I have come, I have become defacto babysitter every single time. I don't want to spend what may be my one vacation having to look after 2 young screaming crying kids. Love them, but young kids are exhausting, and I need a true vacation for my sanity and they consider me visiting them, free babysitting because they don't get time off either without the kids. Am I being selfish for not wanting to go?

30 year old guy grows up in richest town in America. All his friends are from multi-million dollar families. He was unable to do rich things like vacations with his friends due to being middle class. He did not finish college and works as a cashier at a Ski shop. His brother and sister married in to mega-wealthy families worth 25 million dollars. He follows instagram accounts such as "Luxury Life forever" "Living Luxury" "Luxury lifestyle" "luxury yahts" etc etc. He didn't want a girlfriend; and was a self-described womanizer often saying "I like f*cking women and not dealing with bullshit". He meets a popular girl whos family is worth 15 million dollars. He dates her. Is he likely using her for her money?
