In my field (medical) was dealing with a domestic situation. Now I used to be law enforcement & military so it takes a *lot* to intimidate me. As in I've stood on the side of a highway helping a friend with his traffic flagging company & had 6+ ton trucks whip by close enough to touch without flinching.

Anyway this guy was obviously used to abusing women. He tried to stare down/intimidate the front desk girls & the woman he was with had obviously long since learnt best to keep her head down.

When it came to me because I would not break eye contact, etc. or show any signs of fear/anxiety, etc. he started going on I was bothering him, etc. It was very obviously making him uncomfortable. Now trust me I can handle myself & had he tried something he'd have been on the floor by the time he could say shit. If I didn't break his nose first. Depends on what he tried.

But it just was a very heavy reminder that women (and child) abusers are nothing more than spineless cowards.

So I joined a company my brother worked at previously. The boss sort of has a negative stereotype, he keeps making comments based not on anything I did/do but based solely off of my brother's hot-headed / act first, think later antics. It's annoying as between the two of us I am more laid-back/level headed & skilled.

The boss / senior staff went around and told a few others - which has grown into more - I'm "so & so's brother". Now my brother was once "green employee" who people "poked fun at". So I've got that potential stereotype as well.

And I keep getting well bothered/harassed by people in the hallways I don't know from eve/adam saying "I heard you're so & so's brother", who I don't know if they're among the "poked fun at" group, or ask personal questions about my brother (e. g. where is he now) that if I'd lost contact with my brother would just be embarrassing/make me look like a fool if I couldn't answer.

I've only been here a few weeks but between the boss's ideology, the stereotyping, and the nosy parker staff I see why when my brother left he said adios & didn't look back or visit.
