The question is really simple.
You are in a position where you are currently not in danger, but in the future, you will most likely be, and the chances of you suffering negative consequences are really high.
You can choose to take precautions to minimize, or effectively nullify the chances of suffering these negative consequences.
The consequences are dished out by another sentient human being, who deliberately causes them.

In this position, are you responsible TO ANY EXTENT for your own suffering, if you don't take said precautions?

Example:
You enter a bad neighborhood. It is a well known fact that anyone is in danger who walks here after dark. You walk around in an expensive suit, with an expensive watch, you look at your IPhone X (whatever is the latest model), you don't pay attention to your surroundings.
You do this every day, because you have to go through the bad neighborhood to get home.
But you could take an alternative route, which is about the same length, and generally infinitely safer.

One day, you feel a knife's tip in your back. They tell you to leave your wallet and your phone on the ground, take off your clothes, and keep walking without turning around, or they will kill you.
You follow the orders. You get home, without your 6000 dollar suit, 1000 dollar watch, and your credit card with 500 dollar daily limit on it.
You are devastated. Obviously you go to the police, but they can't do anything. You just lost 7500 dollars.
Were you responsible to any extent, as you could have taken the safer path?

I'm a 22 year old college student (about to turn 23 next week) who is still living with parents and is currently unemployed after quitting my previous job several months ago to get more sleep and catch up with my school grades (job hunting right now but struggling very hard to get a job that's best fit for me and that isn't too far from my house or school). I'm also in huge credit card debt and a bit of student loan debt (although not as bad as most other college students in the US but still an issue for me) right now and I'm trying my damndest to not use my credit card anymore (until I get a new job soon) and get a job immediately as soon as possible but all the jobs that I want and feel best fit for, I never get a call back from the hiring managers (even after trying to call or reach out to them) which is frustrating as shit. I'm basically stuck in a deep hole that it seems like I can't get out of and it looks like my credit card is already almost a couple of hundred bucks away of getting maxed out and it's driving me nuts.

Am I a loser for this reason (no matter how hard I try with my life)?
