My boyfriend took full credit for a birthday present. What do I do?

My boyfriend & I each spent 40 bucks on a birthday present to our friend's birthday. In all honesty, we both know I'm closer anyway, so he shouldn't have forgotten me when giving this gift.
Whilst the present was handed over, he failed to mention at all it was from us both. My friend thanked him, "thanks ____!" And even when my friend only used his name, he just went on. I felt like it was petty to angrily say it was from me too and kept quiet. I felt sad and my boyfriend didn't correct him. I went on in the day acting like everything want okay because i didn't want to ruin the fun nature of the party.
It's been 2 days later, and my boyfriend (as usual) keeps forgetting me, like when we plan to hang out or call, etc, he just forgets and sincerely apologises. Whenever we have these fights in general, it ends with him putting himself down and saying he'll get better, but he never does. He ditches me and forgets me.
I usually feel bad in the fights and apologise for getting angry so we leave it at that.

But im getting so tired of this. What do i do? He feels bad but doesn't do shit about it when i forgive him and apologise myself.
(Breaking up is not an option as we love each other very much and otherwise are happy.)

Oh yeaah, im just gonna give you all mho, you were all helpful.
And of anyone was curious, i talked to him seriously about how he's super sweet but he can't keep forgetting everything if this relationship is gonna work, so he's taking certains steps to make sure it doesn't happen again. we've worked it out :)

Um what the hell. You should have said something. Speak up he seems to getting so sure and confident that he won't lose you if he acts like that. Of i were you i'd be like Okay he can forget things for a couole of times but more than that? If he forgets once again then he should forget about me either. If he loves you how can he keep forgetting things? I think he's to young for a alzheimer. So he just simply don't care enough. Speak up. And if you think he loves you as much as you think call him when ever he forgot about you. Lets see how does that work.

Ugh sounds like one classmate of mine. I Fucking hate that guy. Could be this is how he acts in life, from the smallest things. He knows how to get out of troubles by apologizing in a certain way too. I wouldn't want a duplicitous guy like this anywhere near my workplace, but I am very unfortunate.
About what you should do, you'd better let him know you're onto him and he'd better fix his filthy habits, whether it's on purpose or not.

Yeaah i agree with that in the sense that I know it's nothing personal. It's just how he is and i think if he were dating someone else, he'd be the same, so im trying to remember that... Still hard though.
Yeah I've told him before to fix these things but he legitimately doesn't know how. He wants to improve on the bad habits so he asks me how. But to me these things come like common sense, so i try to help the best i can, but he can't change it

Regarding the forgetting to hang out with you, would a person in love forget his SO? I wouldn't I think or maybe you should've reminded him since you know he forgets but I don't know

Yeahhh i really wish i did say it's from me too. Im not even 100% sure why i didn't. I think when i heard my friend go "thanks *insert bf's name*" i sort of just froze in something between shock and sadness. And it felt smug to speak up at the moment. Silly, i know

I feel like your are kinda right by my standards because I believe relationships can't be 70/30 or 50/50, they need to be 100/100 but if the guy has amnesia then you should remember him in the morning of the day you are going to hang out and could even remind him 2 times 1 at the night before, and one in the morning

Let our friend know your ex boy friend is a jerk, and that you helped pay for the present. And yes, make him an ex. He's selfish, inconsiderate, which will only make staying with him hurt more than leaving him now. You can certainly find a better guy than this jerk.
