Interesting fact: science fiction, as we know it today, was invented by none other than Cyrano De Bergerac, who 1. was a real person, 2. was WAY more badass than his play counterpart, and 3. was so flamboyantly bisexual that it was considered excessive even by the standards of seventeenth-century France. His "History of the states and empires of the Moon" and its later counterpart about the sun not only have the first depictions (that I'm aware of) of rocket-based space travel, but also the first (that I'm aware of) depictions of interplanetary sex tourism. Some of which is homosexual interplanetary sex tourism.

I find it kind of funny that both "sci-fi" and "erotic sci-fi" were invented at the same time.
