We met a few months ago in school, and became friends. Ever since vacation started, we've gotten pretty close. We watch shows together (as in, Facetime each other while watching them at our own place) and text and talk a lot too. The watching shows was his idea, but we both contact each other first about 50/50 - neither is the only one who seems interested in maintaining a relation. We talk about almost anything, though both of us prefer deep/intellectual conversations. He also seems to have taken an interest in my interests/hobbies/likes, though he doesn't make a very big deal about it. He does remember a lot of little details about me, but I'm not too sure if that's specific to me or just his habit in general. It occasionally feels like he tries to impress me by his smarts, though again, maybe it's just a part of his personality (I really can't be sure). He sometimes has this soft expression and smile on his face and looks right at me when we talk (if I'm talking and he's listening); other times he seems kinda fidgety (mostly if he's talking and I'm listening - or if there's an awkward silence/moment - lol); other times he seems totally 'normal' (if we're having an intense conversation about ideas and abstract topics). He hasn't complimented me directly as far as I can remember, but he's not a big fan of compliments himself. He's teased me once or twice, but only through texting.

It sometimes seems like we're both unsure of what the other person feels, and so we both test the waters really subtly, which probably increases the tension.

I'm just not sure if he really thinks of me as just a friend, or if he might be interested in me, or if he thinks I like him (and that's why he acts differently compared to before).
