I like Sam (15 years old). I have been casually speaking with him for over a month. He's a total goofball. His mom (who is a substitute teacher) has been saying "Hi Madison!" to me every day in the hall. We met like one time 5 years ago so I found this a bit odd she'd remember me so well and always be so happy to see me. But whatever, she's just a nice lady. Then Sam's friends have been making noises when they see me in the hall. Sam used to do the same thing to me and sometimes still does. Lately he's been dressing up for basketball tournaments so every day I say "Looking spiffy" and he usually gets shy and smiles/laughs. He also treats me different from most girls, he usually pulls their hair and stuff and he doesn't do anything like that to me. He also defended me when I told him some girl was being mean to me and went up to her and called her a f*ggot for being mean. We sit together in band (assigned seats) and the girl on the other side of him (Carly) is seemingly mocking me for liking him. Every time I talk to him she tries to butt into our conversation and she'll repeat what I say to him and start laughing like I'm some loser and it makes me mad. Then Sam was sitting with Carly and her other friend and I had my earbuds in and then her friend turns around and is seemingly laughing at me and gestures to Sam and says "he wants to know what song you're listening to". Sam wasn't even looking at me! I just showed her the song and Sam glanced over at it too and then I turned around. Weird. But carry on. Now my birthday is on Saturday, so I invited these twin guys I've known my whole life over. Sam is friends with them too so I invited Sam over too. This would be our 1st time hanging out. He said "I don't know. Saturday. I don't think I have anything going on. I can probably come." Then I gave him my # and he told me today he tried texting it but it didn't register (he wasn't lying). Honestly, I'm torn. I have a very strong argument for both pro and con. I'm probably just not going to go, simply because I'm a major pessimist and although I have pretty good pro points on the matter, the cons are more my style.
Pro-
-I LOVE to dress up and at least convince myself that I look good
-This is the "magical" night all young girls look forward to
-Basically every young girl's dream
-Memories can be made on prom night
Con-
-Costs money
-No one to go with/friends will all end up leaving me there to go get their own boy/girl toys for the night
-I'm not very attractive, so constant fear of judgment for showing that I actually care how people view me (by dressing up and possibly failing to look nice)
-Even if I go, the focus will be on my more attractive cousin, although we're exactly the same in nearly every aspect, she's more outgoing and good looking than I am.
-I've gotten over the dream of prom, now my dream is to finish every episode of my favorite show on Netflix, which I can work towards by skipping prom!
-Proms seems a bit over rated. "YAY I GET TO SPEND CASH TO GO INTO A CROWDED ROOM (with anxiety) OF A PLACE I HATE (school) IN A PROBABLY UNCOMFORTABLE OUTFIT WITH PEOPLE I DON'T EVEN LIKE/WHO TREAT ME LIKE SHIT, ALL SO I CAN DO SOME HORRENDOUS BODY FLAILING (my attempts at dancing) WOOOOO PROM!"

My cousin and her mom have both tried convincing me to go, but at no avail. I'll be here that night, with all of you, scrolling through the topics. How about you?

I briefly went out with a guy who's idea of an outfit for every single occasion in life was a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and some sneakers. I'm someone who dresses up for dinner (not like a ball gown or anything, lol), but if we're going out I will put on the heels, a nice cocktail dress, do my hair and make-up. If we're going to a wedding, other events that call for a different dress code, I dress up, but otherwise, I'm in casual clothing or jeans and a tee. I personally think whether you're a man or a woman, it is immature to go through life thinking that jeans and a t work for any and all occasions. I'm not saying you have to love dressing up, I know a lot of people who don't, but there is a time and place.
