I need opinions on potentially sound alike names. We have one child named Sagan already, and really love the name Mayson for our next. However, we don’t want names that sound too similar where it’s hard to understand who you’re talking to or it seems like you tried to rhyme baby names. I think they sound too close, however, my husband thinks I’m crazy and that they sound nothing alike. Do you think they sound too similar?

Quan is 41 years old. He is a single parent and has a 9 year old daughter named Zaya. Zaya has always had food, a roof over her head, and decent medical insurance but when she was 16, he stopped giving it to her, so she had to get a job working at a fast food restaurant. Quan always makes sure Zaya's hair is straight. He told her she's pretty for a dark skinned girl and she'd have a lot of problems dating because of it. When Quan was broke, he was physically abusive and dated dark skinned women, when he became more stable/ rich he started dating white and Latina women. He eventually got his girlfriend pregnant. When the baby was born, he gushed about how beautiful she was and how he's going to protect her from those peverted boys at school. He even joked about how she could be a model one day because she has good hair, unlike Zaya.

He taught Zaya the importance of being strong and not needing anyone but herself to depend on when times get tough.

Thor is 40 years old. He has a 5 month old son named Milo and a 11 year old stepson named Jasper. Thor doesn't like his baby son because he's deaf. He told Kara countless times to get an abortion because he was angry and ashamed to have a disabled child. Thor would buy things for Milo but would rarely hold him, cuddle him, or give him any love.

Thor would also refuse to care for Milo at night. So Whenever Milo needed his diaper changed or wanted to be held at night, Thor made 11 year old Jasper get up at 3 in the morning and do it. Jasper felt terrible hearing Thor say that he was ashamed of having Milo for a son because he was deaf, so Jasper would cuddle Milo/ hold Milo when their mother couldn't and made sure he felt loved.

Milo is 22 years old and deaf. He recently had sex with a women named Sara and they lay in bed together. Milo moans, kisses her neck, then rubs himself against her butt. She tells Milo she's pregnant. Milo tells her to get an abortion and that he'll pay for it. Sara says no that's evil. Milo SCREAMS, kicks her out of his bed, throws things at her, and they nearly fell down the stairs fighting, waking up Milo's 6 year old niece.

2 days later, Milo texts Sarah he's very sorry for everything he did, offers to take her out to dinner, and even plans for the baby. Sara blocked his number, put a restraining order against Milo, and paid for her own abortion.

I live in the U. S. My ex and I made a baby 14 years ago. She has no idea he even exists. My husband raised her with me, and he's the only father she's ever known. My ex has paid $149 a month in child support that is garnished from his wages, but he's made no efforts to be in her life. He never wanted kids and always wanted nothing to do with her. His name is not even on the birth certificate.

We always agreed that we would tell her about him when she's 30, and if she had an interest they could meet. Now, his wife has shown an interest in my daughter, and it's caused a bit of a switch to where they are curious and want to just randomly butt in out of nowhere and with no plan to do anything to make her life better. Just because they can.

Can they do this? If we went to court, would a judge make me shake up my child's life and send her off to people who never wanted anything to do with her until 14 years into her life? I feel like this could really derail her life. My ex is not a good person, and we agreed they'd stay far apart for many good reasons. Does anyone have experience with this?
