Full disclosure: I am an alien and I DO NOT UNDERSTAND MANY FUNERARY RITES OF HUMANS.

In the NYC tri-state area, (maybe the Northeast USA in general - I don't know) they take the dead body & (whole train of cars) procession for a ride past their old house and in the case of cops/fireman, usually past their firehouse or precinct. ITS FUCKING BIZZARO WORLD!!

Usually after the burial a lot of the entourage goes to the diner for brunch/lunch which is the one thing I support that both Christians & Jews here do. Then maybe the closest friends and family back to decedents house to (for Christians) get drunk and tell stories about the poor sap.

Like I said, I don't get you humans a lot of the time but I think the Jews are closest to the best way to mourn (with a BIG exception to the Vikings send off to Valhalla - THOSE GUYS KNOW HOW TO PARTY!)

The Jews "sitting shiva" makes sense to me. Simple pine box. Buried as soon as practical. No rabbi needed - head of family does "service". Set mourning period. Go to decedants house instead of sanitary clinical depressing funeral home where some preacher who never met the guy does a eulogy. EVERY visitor brings / orders food so you don't cook for days or weeks. Sit on uncomfortable box to remind yourself your not supposed to be comfy & cover mirrors so you're not concerned with vanity - all so you can truly focus on the decedant. All old photo albums throughout the home broken out for guests to look at. Everybody kvells, noshes & yentas in their shmatas.

So? What's it like by you? Does any other faiths funerary rites appeal to you? If It were up to me every cemetery would be turned into a park, preserve, trail, ball field or playground.

I've given some thought to Parsi (Zoroastrian) rites (another faith I admire very much) & the Tower of Silence for myself but will likely be made into a tree, plant or a diamond.

Breast Cancer awareness is going around... wear pink... and wisen the heck up! Because...

so is Halloween... in the USA. A time when we distribute and eat some of the worst garbage mankind ever devised. Hyrdropupulated corn syrup blechinated sugar drops! It's poison and you know it... whether it's directly related to breast cancer I will leave to brighter minds than mine, which will never ever receive the funding or legal funds to research it... but you know it is no good for you, sugar/hydrogenated fat, corn syrupt/etc is the cause of a lot of problems.

So lets cancel the Halloween candy indocrination of the kids. Give them something else and tell them we love them too much to give them garbage, no candy for you, don't care how cutsy your are. You will get... XYZ in stead... anything else.

Yea Halloween is fun, I like Halloween, but I don't like cavities, cancer, and all the colds and stuff that result... not to mention indocrinating people with garbage food for life. Take your kids out to dinner and eat real food. Eat an apple. If there is a bucket of candy around, throw it in the trash.

Your body will thank me.
