One Direction star Liam Payne has died at 31. What are your thoughts? Were you a fan?

According to the BBC, Liam Payne, the former One Direction star, has died aged 31 in Argentina after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, police say. In a statement, police said they discovered Payne's body after an emergency crew responded to a 911 call in the upscale neighbourhood of Palermo.

According to police in Buenos Aires, officers at the scene were initially responding to reports "of an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol". When they arrived at the hotel, officials were told a loud sound had been heard in an interior courtyard. Soon after, they discovered the body there. A police investigation has been launched.

hey, first thing for me on the news, uk, they recalled the manager call to the police, as a guest highly intoxicated on drugs and alcohol ripping the place apart... this was not repeated to day in any news, strangely enough... there was a tik tok post this morning,... both him and his girlfriend telling you without telling you,,, were having breakfast at like 1pm or 3pm because we always sleep late never up before midday... as a former party person, drug alcohol abuser... all i heard was... we are always up partying, drugs and alcohol... I've never known anyone who exists like that unless thats the rota of life... drugs and booze were taken to a max... then a situation burst into existence with his girlfriend and he broke through a barrier hed built inside himself... i have such a bizarre knowing in his rage he threatened his own life on the balcony because smashing up the suite did not achieve what he wanted... if you consider the saturn return pattern of reaching 28 years of life... so so so many gifted souls depart this realm... he had a ride most couldnt even imagine... but from 28 its been a down slow and two others from the group were planned to go on... i think he may of been the best writer.. he lost a relationship with a beautiful woman had a child... lost it all... so when at my age i am having timeline memories, taunting me how have you done in life? what have you really achieved? in my fifth decade, i can swear my inner knowing that i know things, feel things, am a healer... im on my life journey... imagine by 31 youve raced through yours and now its empty... in the interviews on the street, the girls saying i was into the band when i was a kid!! to me they are babies... we evolve every seven years, 0 to 7 nuture with our mother figure, 7 to 14 expand with the father figure... branching away from maternal apron strings...14 to 21 branching away from parental inflluence searching out ones own responses to our thoughts, going forward making ones own decisions, ideally a time of having an older confident, maybe an aunt, cousin, good friends, good friends parents, i give views to my 18yr dd friend via her... they used to say at 21 you get the key of the door,, it was seen as a real adult... from 21 to 28,,, key of the door... you just you now move and take actions everyday on your own steam, these last seven years of the four quarter turns are you developing as a person a soul... to test my words talk to people about the time between 26 to 28 ish, it is often a time of great change and challenge, defining oneself... when one considers the truly gifted souls with their talent become fame, shared with the world... that is all amy whinehouse wished for, her music was heard... she had inner knowing that was her purpose and end all... the extreme levels she pushed herself too, time after time... got clean... laid on her bed, and died... now that is almost destiny to me, because at least a hundred times the drugs she took should of killed her... what if these gifted souls upon reaching the first cycle of a human life they had completed their soul mission... so end point of rant... these famous souls growing up through even childhood some of them, teenage, young adult... it is now becoming apparent the whole system of media is wicked and a user and abuser of young people... that afternoon video at the table then hours later fucked up on gear off a balcony... i hope for her sake she wasn't in that room... my senses say, he was making a threat that went wrong... my immediate sadness was for his son, forever, having a famous dad who died fucked up off a balcony... babies mumma losing the father of her child, a lifetime of trying to cover that void... as well as the love she had for him...

I was a big fan of 1D back in the day. Still love their music together and individually. I even met the band when I was younger.

It's an incredibly complex feeling grieving a public figure. My heart breaks for his family and friends, especially his son. I hate how his son is going to have to grow up with his father's death all over the internet.

My heart also breaks for my young teen self, she's devastated. I'm living with a constant pit in my stomach.

As of right now all of the members of 1D have released a statement except Niall, I know he's hurting the worst right now and feeling somewhat responsible (even though it's absolutely not his fault).

I also have to acknowledge Maya and how confused she and other victims must be feeling.

Grief is confusing in general.

One Direction was a band that I loved listening to, especially in my late teens, Liam and Zayn were my favourites, I adored and loved their songs, his death has shattered me, I still can't believe it, until the last moment I hoped it was fake news, but then I saw that it wasn't.

I know he had a difficult life, unfortunately you can't say you have everything, true happiness comes from within and doesn't depend solely on how much money and fame you have.

I feel very sorry for the family, I hope we have the strength to move on, because that is what he would want. I hope he has now found the peace he was looking for.

I wasn't a fan at all but it's sad that people who have so many reasources to get mental health help still end up in situations like this. It's confusing to me how this still happens in the 70s when people were still kind of new to celebrity status and people didn't know what the dangers were, it's understandable. But today when you have so many options. I don't know about his life or what he was going through but it just seems like a wasted opportunity. And that he has a family makes it even more tragic.

The police do yet know whether his death was a murder, an accident or a suicide and as a distant reader, my theory is that it might have been a suicide.

I believe he had challenges and difficulties but they were things he could fix with effort and will power and the solution he chose was far worse than the problem he was trying to escape.

I only liked Zayn and Harry when 1D were together. But the way he died was so cruel and so sad. I hate that they showed his deceased state over the internet with no respect to his family, loved ones, or fans.

I don't think anyone should die the way he did. It's so heartbreaking. He went to see Niall and spent time with his girlfriend and the girlfriend flew home days earlier than him to find out he's never coming back home is so sad.

I wasn’t the biggest One Direction fan but my sister really liked them and I do like some of their music. We saw them in concert in 2015 and my sister even sleeps on a One Direction pillow. But Liam’s death saddens me because it was so tragic and he was my favorite 1D member and I also feel bad for his 7 year old son.

he was going nuts, on drugs, fell or jumped out of window. he had issues facing life and life can be very difficult at times. people lose it when they lose it all.

who knows what was really going on, maybe we will find out.

hope others learn from the lesson to find help, seek life renewed. he was way too young to die like that.

Poor guys however I for one wasn't really ever a fan of One Direction or 1D. Harry Styles is the only one I sort of know by name recognition even.

Anyways - sympathies and I guess that's like some celebrities out there, there's always beauty as much as tragedy and that's the artists lifestyle for some for you - like washed up celebrities is an actual term that exists - unrelated to this poor man's celebrity passing. Peace :)
