So as you go through life people tend to accumulate baggage and give their heart to people that turn out to be shitty. You don't even need to be in relationship/sex with them to get baggage, and merely being manipulated and used is enough to put up a guard for the next person you have feelings for. A perfect example of this is a girl who fell for too many players/fuckboys and gave up sex like within 2 weeks - month and then once they got it they dropped her. Now, after years of being used she wants to take things slow and make a guy who is genuinely not like that a year before having sex;even though she gave it up sooner for the fuckboy. Another case is a guy who got cheated on by his girlfriend in the past and now has trust issues and invades his girl's privacy. Checking her phone to see what your texting, constantly calling her to find out where she is if she is running late from her usually schedule. And basically having a level of mistrust because of shitty actions of a past lover.
