What images and thoughts came to mind as you read each statement? Were they consistent across the groups? Are there differences in your reaction and assumptions? This is your sub conscious mind... what you've learned about different groups. It may change substantially as additional information is provided.

3 black men are standing on the corner
3 white men are standing on the corner.
3 chinese women are standing on the corner.
3 Syrian refuges are standing on the corner.
3 Police are standing on the street corner

Are the thoughts creating different images? Are do you see how the mind jumps to quick conclusions about people, based upon no information or are you equally fair to all?

What I suspect is that our minds have "maps" for different kinds of characteristics and impressions in terms of safety, security, behavior, etc.. Those are biases... racial, ethnic. You can change the attributes to discover how you have an impression of different groups.

Our initial assumptions are formed by our minds filling in the gaps of important information. What is your mind trying to figure out? The assumptions can easily be false. Where are these images formed from? We are likely all different in that regard, but there may be generalities to gain. By discovering these issues... we can find problem areas and focus energy on correcting our views of others.
