Meaning, do you tell yourself things like "Once x, y, or z happens... I'm going to be in such a better place."? I always thought that once I get a degree, I'll feel so much better and have my life together. Or once I get money, I'll have such a better life. Or once I'm in a long term relationship, everything will fall in place. I got all those things, and they didn't really significantly impact my well being. My development as an individual is what has made my life better. I developed as a person going through all the things I had to do to reach my goals. It wasn't the reward itself that did much of anything. I used to do this a lot, and it's taken me a lot of years for me to come to realization that it's most likely a delusional mindset, and you have to learn how to enjoy the journey because that's the biggest part.

I just have. I booked a long weekend in April for us in Croatia, and was intending to take my gal to the Plitvice Lakes.

When I'd visited previously, I'd noted that there were a few expensive hotels in the vicinity, and very little else, but on the Bosnian side of the border is the town of Bihac, which made an excellent alternative base.

Imagine my delight, when I learned that it's now become the front line for illegal migrants into Europe from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria and the like, and that the (overwhelmingly Muslim) locals had been holding demonstrations against the wave of crime that they've brought along with them...
