After a 20 year fight, UK has just agreed to ban what has come to be known as the tampon tax world wide, which is the unfair taxation of menstrual products, taxed only to women or the men who also buy them for their wives and girlfriends, because they have been deemed "unnecessary" or a "luxury item," and yet a box of doughnuts or a candy bar is NOT taxed. I don't know about you but not bleeding all over the furniture in the office where other people have to sit, mind you, seems pretty necessary if we intend to maintain sanitary public spaces for all.

Currently in the US, 33 states still have a tax on menstrual products and there is an ongoing protest/petition and legal battle that strives to get rid of it in the US by tax day 2021!
