I did that once when I was 22. The guy was 5 years older. We were dating for 4 months by then. I was that guy's first girlfriend.

Even though I didn't love him too much (well not in that ''falling in love'' type but as a family/sisterly manner), I would've been ok with the relationship. I felt secured and never cheated on him. Yet, he found out and didn't take it very well. We haven't spoken ever since. He thought what I did was worse than getting rejected. Why?

Is dating out of compassion and giving the person a chance that bad?

We started texting each other around 3 weeks ago, we've had 4 conversations since then. Every conversation has flowed, he's been asking questions back, the good signs. We both have solid, obvious interest in each other.
The 1 big problem is I've texted first the 3/4 conversations we've had, the only reason he texted first was to apologize for falling asleep. We aren't dating, but if quarantine didn't exist we would.
I've sent him a text in the last conversation we had 2 hours after he texted, then 1 the next day, then 1 a couple a days later (3 days ago), we are using snap chat and he's been on it (his snap score increased by a couple of points.)
He's done this before after the 2nd conversation we had, I texted him like 3 times then he answered what I sent him. He doesn't seem to mind not chatting for a week but I don't know if that's normal.
by the way we're both in high school, and are both 16 years old. I'm a female, he's a male. I've never texted a guy before and honestly I don't think the guy texted other females that much before. He's been a couple of relationships before, I've had none.

I always think I’m ready to date but once it becomes real I’m like oh shit maybe I’m actually not😳.

I know I need to give myself time to heal from a bad relationship. I would like to be single for a year, but I’m not very good at resisting the urge to couple-up. Loneliness + boredom + stress = my downloading dating apps as a distraction.

Also - I always somehow forget that dating apps are difficult! Flirting with guys sounds fun but once I’m in it there’s just so much B. S. that it gets old really quick. 😬😬😬

If I do happen to find a nice guy I feel so guilty for not actually being emotionally available that I delete the app anyways.

How do you guys feel about dating apps? How do you know when you are ready to date again? Are you tempted to date even though deep down you know you shouldn’t? Have you ever tried a dating app and then deleted it shortly later? Why? 🙃

I have so many questions! I need to know if I’m the only one guilty of all these. Or is everyone else on dating apps kinda doing the same thing? 🤔 Please share your opinions and experiences! ❤️
