Out of curiosity.
I’ve read that your relationship with your parent typically improves once you have your own children, you bond, appreciate your parents more, etc...
however mine has been the opposite, my mother (now grandmother) has boundary issues regarding who is raising my daughter, and even tho I believe I’m a great mom, it appears nothing I do is good enough. All I’ve heard is constant criticism, perhaps this is projecting anger due to loss of control over the choices they make?

Nelson is 16 years old. He goes to church every Sunday and he always helps around the church, feeds the children, and people always tell him how sweet and kind he is. One day Nelson saw a handsome guy named Darry at church. Nelson gave Darry a blank stare and constantly kept staring at him until Darry got angry and asked him to stop. Nelson kept doing it and finally after the church Darry grabbed Nelson, threw him into a dark room and screamed at him with rage. He said why do you keep staring at me? Nelson said nothing. Darry asked again. Nelson said nothing... It's nothing! Darry locked the door and said you better tell me and pulls a knife out his pocket. Nelson says it's because I think you're handsome!

Darry goes quiet for a second. He says okay, are you gay Nelson? Nelson says y- yes I am. I'm embarrassed about it and well, I guess I'm not good at hiding it. Darry says if you were caught doing this in Africa they would of killed you. Nelson, you are a black man. Don't you know how dangerous it is just to be born black? Nelson says nothing. His voice cracks and he says I'm sorry, please don't hate me and his eyes swell up with tears. The guy says look, I think it's best you stop going here, too many people here are homophobic. Nelson says okay and never went back.
