I've heard the claim from a classmate of mine in high school who was talking about how "she likes more dominant men who are willing to wear the pants in the relationship", but in reality, this means she sees males as nothing but a means to fulfill a fantasy for what she sees as `dominant`, while she also gets to be lazy because he has to make all the decisions for her and provide for her financially.

I think balanced adults have no need for "submission and dominance" in a relationship, because they value each other as people, for their personal qualities; and not based on what daddy and mommy told them a "man" or "woman" has to be like.
That, and mature adults might ask for help and advice from others, but they make their own decisions. They don't need to put themselves down in a relationship to feel happy about their self-proclaimed inferiority.
