There’s a stray cat we’ve been keeping as an outdoor pet (it kept sleeping under my car), looks like a Turkish Angora. But it’s been displaying some odd amounts of coughing, deep breathing from the mouth, and retching without any vomit or hairballs coming out. It does this especially when picked up, and its abdomen gets convulsive. I notice it tends to click when it breaths.

It was trapped underneath our crawlspace a few days, looked pretty emaciated when we saw it after. It’s been a little while but it’s seeming to come back to its size when we found it.

I have no idea its age. It looks young and its teeth are pure white but it could be 5 and we’d never know because it’s a small but far from a kitten.

If anyone with extensive experience could help, it’d be appreciated. I’m wondering if maybe its heartworm, or asthma. It never seemed to be enthused by toys we showed it for long or enjoy playing, but it scratches wood and tires often.
