He advocates for "seeing color" and racial discrimination in the present to atone for the racial segregration in the past. On interracial adoption, he said,

"Some White colonizers 'adopted' Black children. They 'civilized' these 'savage' children in the 'superior' ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity. And whether this is Barrett or not is not the point. It is a belief too many White people have: if they have or adopt a child of color, then they can't be racist."

White supremacist Richard Spencer agrees, saying "Not wrong".

So we have a man whose books advocate for segregation and judging people on the color of their skin rather than the content of their character. Should these books be banned now that we have established that all racist books have to go?

My parents (mom and stepdad) said we bleed red and we're not racist, they're heavily and blatantly INTOLERANT of the N-word (by the way). But when my mom or I bring up something about gender, as in the Hasbro Potato Head case, my stepdad said those people are "sensitive snowflakes/pussies." I explained to him that people are now using gender pronouns; he wanted me to explain to him what they are, and my art teacher required all his online students to use he/him, she/her, and they/them.

My mom and stepdad literally mock gender and trans rights activists with "wahh give me gender equality." I don't get as mad with their politics anymore, but they're centrist independents.

I'm 19, she's 20. She's not 100% black... her dad is white, but her mother is a 100% black African-American woman. However, her skin color is still very dark. Only slightly lighter than her mom's. Though she does have straight, very long hair... which is possible in black women, just uncommon.

We were already dating before I moved out of my parent's house. By now, we've been together for about 8 months.

8 months may not seem like a lot, but we've been together almost every day, several hours a day, so she's the person I love most in my life right now.

I love her because she's cute, outgoing, confident, kind, intelligent, athletic, sexy, seductive, laughs easily, and a great support system when I'm down.

About a week ago, there was gonna be dinner at my parent's house... I let her know my parents are incredibly racist once again, like I let her know less than a week into our dating. She said she's used to it though, won't take it to heart, and just wants to see what kind of people they are.

So I let her come along...

At first, me, her, and my parents got along just fine. For the first 20 minutes or so. But then they began making comments.

"She's just your friend right? I mean you couldn't possibly be dating a (n-word)."

"She looks more attractive than most (n-word), but her skin is too dark for her to be a real lady."

"You wouldn't do this to us. If I had (n-word) children, I'd commit suicide."

And I could notice my girlfriend getting increasingly more and more mad, though she just kept quiet.

But then, I snapped, "STOP THIS! SHE'S MY GIRLFRIEND, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT! AND IF YOU'RE NOT GONNA LOVE HER LIKE A DAUGHTER, I DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU BOTH ANYMORE!"

And my parents just sort of stopped talking, and my girlfriend smiled.

I don't regret this, and neither does my girlfriend, but do you think I maybe was too hard on them/went too far?
