I heard that Cuba banned the importation of foreign cars and parts in 1960.

And the ban wasn’t lifted until 2011. So there’s still classic American cars everywhere in Cuba. Especially in their Capital. Because people have been willing to preserve them for so long.

As of late Cuba did pass sweeping economic reforms where citizens can actually buy and sell property among numerous other things.

Under new leadership post Fidel Castro, it appears that the Country is attempting to modernize and globalize.

As with many other communist countries in world history such as China and Vietnam, it appears that Cuba is resorting to a Capitalist economic system.

But the US embargo remains a huge roadblock in their way. And virtually every single country in the UN has routinely voted in favor of suggesting that the US remove the embargo.

But for some reason Trump’s reversal of Obama era policy towards normalizing relations has the strong backing of Cuban Americans. They came out and voted for him in droves and swept him across the finish line in the swing state of Florida.

So while I do personally support lifting the embargo, there is a side to the story that I am missing out on.

Personally I believe that the embargo should be lifted because it’s effects are harmful.

The embargo is hindering economic development on the island.

All the while meaningful changes have been introduced across the island. Whether it be the direct result of the embargo itself or for some other reason not mentioned.

An unattractive woman might not get any attention or favors unlike like her prettier counterpart. But she won’t get labeled a “creep” just based on her appearance either.

I’m pleasant to all women whether they are attractive or not (unless they give me reason not to be). But I’ve seen girls label guys “creeps” for no reason at all beyond just how he looks.
