Search Results: roles in the household

So I was reading/answering a question and after reading all the other answers, I was surprised to see how many people lived through a very similar experience as I did on here... living with parents who hated each other, constantly fought, sometimes over nonsense... and being stuck there with no way out. If you've experienced this, I'd like to hear about your story, in as much detail as you're willing to provide. I'm starting to feel that the frequency of these broken home situations is also what may be playing a role in the declining marriage rates in the West.

Some questions I'm curious about include:

Did money problems cause the fights?
Who was the usual instigator?
Did your parents end up sleeping in separate areas of the house?
What did you do to cope?
How has it affected your own personal relationships or the vision of your future relationships?

The first man in a girl's life is her father and she often uses him as a role model for the type of man she would date, which is why girls who come from abusive homes tend to go for abuse men and girls who come from stable household look for stable, good men.

Now, a father and daughter having a platonic GF/BF relationship seems to be a good thing to me. The father can teach his little girl how she should be treated by a men and basically instill in her the standards she should set for any man that date her in the future.

So to me a father taking his daughter out on dates, opening doors for her, and basically doing the boyfriend roles should be something that all fathers should be doing with their daughters.
