There is has been a persistent stereotype than men are slower grow up. I guess that is semi true when you see some men being proud man whores in their mid 30s. But when it comes to other things like his career, emotional control, etc. men are held to a very high standard when they hit a certain age. And yet you often see examples of “man childs” in movies, TV and the media.

But from my observations there are a lot of grown ass women who never grow up. They are still committing infidelity, they have little control over their emotions, they confidently friendzone guys who they know like them, they feel entitled to money and/or men who are way out of their league. I knew a 41 year old woman who had her just had her second abortion. If you don’t know how to use birth control by that age there is something seriously wrong with you

This is especially true when you see middle aged women involved with politics. Many of them will lose their shit if anybody disagrees with them (no matter how tactful or polite they were). I can see some zealous college kid acting that way but when a 35 year old man or woman does it it’s beyond pathetic.

I just don’t see these immature grown women getting the same kind of backlash grown men do when it comes to this crap.

I've seen quite a few women online who are critical about men liking sports or say they don't get it. I'm curious how you feel :)

I've been watching the Olympics today and Switzerland just won the Giant Slalom. There were such difficult conditions and it was such a close race and the guy is only 24 at his first Olympics and won it ice cold. I was nervous just watching :)

So for some fictional work of mine, I combined and parodied DC's Justice League and Marvel's The Avengers heroes, to get the most common, cliché hero archetypes with a twist. Which figure looks the coolest to you, though? Who stands out the most?

SUPRAMERICAN (Henry Smith). 6'5''. Brave, virtuous, strong, a little cocky. Powers: Flight, super-strength, invulnerable, superspeed, subzero freezing vision, heat breath, and can turn invisible.

IRON KNIGHT (Kevin Murphy). 5'6''. Nerdy genius, anti-social, a jerk. No superpowers, but has an advanced, high-tech suit, as well as genius IQ, is a tech wizard, and expert in martial arts.

ATHENA (Athena Olympus). 6'2''. Personality: Polite and highly intelligent, but very insecure, jealous, and emotional. Powers: Superstrength, super durability, super agility, master martial artist and hand-to-hand combatant, master sword fighter, master war tactician.

OCEAN KING (Edgar Aquino). 5'8''. Quiet 18 year old. Bashful. Doesn't talk (but can). Powers: Can breathe and live underwater, can control water and sea creatures, good hand-to-hand combatant, very durable.

LIGHTSPEED (Lori Lee). 5'6''. Funny with a good sense of humor, jovial, a little narcissistic and vain, obsessed with social media likes and followers. Powers: Can run faster than the speed of light, super durability, doesn't need to breathe, doesn't age.

LIGHTNING BUG (Lucian Luzio). 5'9". Works for the military. Is mostly just a normal guy, but is working class (poor) and in financial debt. Powers: Can manipulate light and matter, being able to create almost anything for a brief period of time. Can rappel and swing through the air using hard-light grappling hooks.

GREEN-MAN (Grene Mann). 7'2''. Very introverted. Cynical, sarcastic, pessimistic, kind of a downer. Is the last of his kind. Has a Jersey accent (his Earth father had the same accent). Powers: Superstrength, super durability, bulletproof, can shapeshift, high intelligence, can read minds.

Long story short, I started learning to play hockey over the past couple of years, but really, I have only a year’s experience figuring the down time with the pandemic. Picked a terrible time to start, lmao.

I received an email today from a local adult hockey league advertising the upcoming winter/spring season. I didn’t sign up for a league in the fall, because I didn’t feel ready. I could play, but I don’t want to be bad, because I’m hard on myself for athletic failure, and more importantly, I don’t want to be a liability for the sake of my team. I’m getting better, but I’m still waiting to get fluid and automatic instead of clumsy and hesitant. I’ve changed my mentality to “take over the game” when I think I’m the best player on my team who’s on the ice, and I feel like I thrive in that scenario. But when I’m the third-or-lower of the five, I feel like I suck, haha. I’ve been playing at night recently with some new guys, and the first week, most of them were 55+, and I scored like six goals, one guy was calling me “Stevie Yzerman” after the former NHL great. The next week better players came and I had a TOUGH night lmao.

So this league…what makes me consider it is it’s supposedly for beginners, and there’s an evaluation game and then a draft party afterwards, and you get picked for a team. I just don’t know how tight they’d be about skill level, like would ringers be out there posing like novices? The other thing…I already know I can’t make the second game of the season because it’s my dad’s 90th birthday. I guess it’s just one game but I’d hate to miss it after committing to a team. The season ends April 6th, so I could wait til then…. but I’m so anxious to get started with competitive play. I’m all heart and grit out there, haha, but I’m still getting some of the finesse skills down. But against similarly skilled players, maybe it’s a good opportunity to play and get better, instead of just trying to keep up with way more experienced guys.
