Little brother is 5 years old, I'm his big sister, was about 16 when he was born & watch him whenever needed, he had an on & off cough for about 3 months, we took him to get an x ray to see his lungs, it came back saying he had an enlarged heart, got a second x ray by another doctor results said same thing, went to family doc then pediatrician, they said they don't think it's serious and he's fine. I stressed my concern (I researched enlarged heart... Let's just say It's serious, if not treated right away it only becomes manageable but not curable, it's a progressive condition and only gets worse overtime). The doc said fine we'll give you a referral to the pediatric cardiologist but you don't need it & you won't get an appointment right away because it's not an emergency, parents were relieved & fine with it.

I protested to my family that they should plead for a heart specialist appointment right away, JUST IN CASE. we debated & argued, basically they trust the docs who say my bro is fine and don't have a sense of urgency to see a specialist.

Just to reiterate, 2 separate technicians saw the same heart enlargement, the doctors were transferred the notes of the x-ray, one doctor didn't believe the heart was actually enlarged & thought the x-ray might just be fuzzy, the other doctor acknowledged it was enlarged but said it was normal. There were NO further tests done other than the x-rays, so we don't know the details of where in the heart is enlarged & we don't know the underlying reason, the doctors say it's just the cold/flu causing the heart to be inflamed

They said they won't be calling the cardiologist because they believe he'll be okay, so it's most likely he will not see a cardiologist. I just want a peace of mind, which would be official test results not just "He doesn't look that sick so he should be fine"

by the way This is not a money issue or a time issue, my parents would lose nothing by requesting to see the cardiologist.
