I have an ex right before I met my wife and after we broke up I deleted every pic I had of her and moved on. A couple months later my ex and I broke up, I couldn't stop thinking about her so I looked at her IG and she posted pictures that I had taken of her. Every few month since our breakup, I get bombarded with thoughts of her and I look at her social media and I see pics of places we've been together or pics I took of her. I don't think she wants to get together and I got over her fairly quick. I married someone this year that is perfect for me and have even stranger and stranger connection. I've thought about my ex twice since we broke up. The first time was on my birthday a couple months after our breakup and an hour later she wished me a happy birthday. The next time was yesterday when I saw a YouTube video showing a destination I went to with my ex and it was all the same places we visited together wo I started thinking about her and the places I visited with her. An hour after watching the video, she messaged me. I don't have the impression she wants to get back together but the connection we have is weird.

My wife and I have an even stronger connection. We've had people over to our house and for some reason I felt the need to food. Ten minutes after I did that, my wife asked me to order food and every time I've ordered, it's been from the place she's thinking of. This happens all the time and it's like we're in sync. But it gets even weirder when she starts answering questions that I've got in my head and before I can even ask, she's already answered my question, When I ask her about this she says that she knew what I was thinking. When we were long distance, she said that she could always feel me next to her. She always struggled being clingy and thought that was why she was single but when we started dating, she felt that I was always there and it cured her clinginess.

I'm curious if anyone else has had someone show up after you've thought about them.

Is the belief or ideals of Monogamy inherently toxic?

For example Hollywood ideals we have come to know such as true love and soulmates demand both partners to be perfect for the entire marriage or relationship! Or otherwise it was never true love!

When we all know that human beings are inherently imperfect creatures, make lots of mistakes, and grow and change as person over time including our interests and dislikes.

Jealousy, suspicion, and mistrust is a huge part of monogamy! even though they will never admit it they will always have some doubt in the back of their heads. Why were they nice to x person or say x to that person or act in x way.

There are so many stipulation to marriage such as limiting interactions with the opposite sex, obligatory huge expensive weddings, obligatory expensive wedding ring, obligatory children, etc. etc.

If by some chance you are both miserable, divorce is a taboo and frowned upon and you are forced to stay with a person you hate for the rest of your life! And if you do get a divorce both partners fight tooth and nail to get as much from the other as possible and get control of the kids. etc. etc.

What do you guys think? Is it fair to trap a person to be with you for your entire life for your own selfish desires, beliefs, or insecurities?

What is wrong with loving every human being instead of being forced to just be with one for your entire life?

I know we live in a cynical world right now with this dystopia of Joe Biden, wokeness, the Chinese Communist Party, and Resident Evil on Netflix right now. I know, I know... But if magic was real and could grant you your most compatible partner currently existing in this world right now; your soulmate of soulmates; would you take it?

I know a lot of people (mainly men, and rightfully so) have grown cynical and jaded of the idea of love and have stopped believing it exists. (Hell, I mostly have, too.) But again, a magical scenario here. You get a chance to get your soulmate in this world; someone currently existing who who matches most of what you want physically in a person and most of what you want personality wise. Probably won't be 100% perfect because they're a currently existing person in the real world. But they'll be close to what you've always wanted, but could never meet before due to limiting circumstances and a lack of communication to know each other's existence.

SO, IF GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY, WOULD YOU STILL WANT TO BE IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE IDEAL FOR YOU?

I still believe in the idea, even if it's only a fantasy like this. My new perfect partner would be 6'2" to 6'4", between 25 and 33, would have long dark hair, a full voluptuous figure, and huge breasts and booty. She'd wear black lingerie underwear and be very affectionate, kind, and loving. You can fantasize your ideal partner too. Go nuts.
