How long is your longest relationship?

What makes you stay that long? And why you broke up?

6 years - we were best friends, we practically grew up together all the way until we graduated college. Turns out we wanted to pursue different things in life, I wanted to move across the globe so we decided to go our separate ways. We’re still friends to this day.

It was a 3 years LDR. Why I stayed that long with her? I really, really believe I was gonna make it to her country. Things just got more complex for me...

Why did I broke up with her? The fact that I was unable to see her in person and that our sexual compability was really bad (she didn't like cyber sex at all), made me reach to a point where I priorize my mental stability over the relationship itself. I couldn't deal with the fact that our LDR seemed more like a pen pal relationship, than an actual relation. It took me a long time to recover from all what happened. I still wanted to be friend with her, but for her it was everything or nothing. I respected her thoughts and leave her aside.

15 years with one woman, then a 2 year relationship with a different one after that.
I stayed because I was very attracted to those women and we had good chemistry in different ways. Also, when I commit to something, I mean it. I get attached.
Those relationships ran their course and got to a point where I couldn't fix them and there was too many problems to move forward.
They were definitely learning experiences.

I was with him for 12 years. It was a good relationship until the last year with him. He changed and became physically violent towards me. I ended it there and then and have had zero contact with him

@aialex she lived with her grandparents, not her mother. The grandparents were more of a hindrance. Example, I was working full time and in college full time, her grandparents were harassing me to come to Florida (where she is - mind you she's a pathological liar and I take care of my mom so I had more on my plate) The grandfather - former Army Air Corps (WW I) was saying how he wanted a letter from my physician, and her grandmother wanted me to stick around to goto the justice of the peace the following Monday - she didn't even stay with me when I was there. I easily could of been with my other friend who was in love with me - which I should of done) and still kicking myself over.
