I grew up with the news on TV every day. I was watching it as a pre-schooler. I quit watching TV news in the mid-late 90s - can't remember exactly when.

I used to read the newspaper a lot, often from cover to cover. I think I quit reading it around 2005-6.

I've never been in the habit of reading online news.

Now, I check things out when someone mentions something in the news. It's surprising how well you can keep up on things without actively watching/reading the news. If it's important, you'll hear about it. You can keep up with the important things without being overwhelmed with the constant onslaught of negative shit that we call news.

You just have to remind yourself that the news is the exception, not the rule. The more rare something is, the more it will be in the news. The more common and normal it is, the less likely it will be in the news. The news basically makes the abnormal seem normal because it's constantly slamming you with it.

I remember one time I went several years without a TV. Someone gave me a TV and I saw the news. My reaction was, "Holy shit, I didn't realize the world was coming to an end." If you go a while without it, it really drives it home just how much the news distorts reality. Keep that shit away from me. It's not so bad as all that.

Yeah. I never watch the news. Like ever. I think it’s a lot of bias stuff with differing narratives of the same events depending on what network you’re watching.

TV's at bar are on open to close so I hear news constantly at work, and yes it is nice at times when home and not hearing all the doom and gloom of the world every minute of the day.

Sometimes it's hard to bear when you hear the news about all the terrible things happening in the world. When I'm on vacation I always try to switch off and not listen to the news. At home it's different. I look at it at least once a day, or sometimes mor often.

I watch the news on almost a daily basis & follow national news, here mostly for my close area on a news app. I'll also browse Icelandic news once in a while.

es, mt doc told me bu blood pressure was too high. He wanted to put me on meds. I ratcheted up my workouts. Lost some weight, cut back on salt and stopped watching the news. My blood pressure went down enough tht i did not have to be on meds.

Yes I have to sometimes. It's too depressing but there's a balance in that and being responsible to understand what's going on in the world too

The news is different than when I was a kid. It's much more negative. I don't watch it anymore unless there's a storm coming
