I'm 23, what is the youngest girl I can date?

I would much rather be with another 23 year old but now my friends got me thinking... like even as young as 14 can be ok. I will never go that young ever but due to extremes that I hear people talking about, I want your take. Thanks.

LEGALLY, it depends on where you live. In the United States, each state has their own age of consent involving sexual activity. The vast majority of states set the age of consent to 16. Some 17 and some 18. Many of these states also have close in age exemptions. In Colorado for example, if the girl is at least 15 and the other person is no more than 10 years older, it is legal. Otherwise, the age of consent in Colorado is 17.

ETHICALLY, American culture frowns upon anyone of legal age (18+) to date anyone under 18. In other countries, especially in Europe (from what I have heard by many sources), it is socially acceptable for a 16 year old girl to date a guy in his early to mid 20's.

ULTIMATELY, it depends on the girl, the maturity level, the parents, and the person she dates. IF the girl is under 18, she is under the custody of her parent or legal guardian who ultimately has a say. If it is illegal where you are at, all it takes is a complaint from the girl, her parent, or anyone of that matter for a criminal investigation to be conducted. But that is, if there is proof and reasonable and viable evidence to hold against you. Let's say the parents and the girl like you at first and you dump her, she can hold that against you and her parents can file charges.

It is up to you to perform the research and it is your choice as to whether or not you want to take risks. But always treat the girl with respect and use protection.

The rule of thumb is half your age plus 7.

For you, that's 18 as being the lowest age you should probably go. Any lower, and it's going to be a lot more tricky to have a successful relationship because you won't have as much in common. If she's 16, they'll have trouble driving, or borrowing the car, or she'll be dealing with high school garbage, where you'll have college classes, and or be working. It's a different stage in life. I think that 17 is the youngest, and if you go any younger than that, it can get really creepy really quickly. I don't know, but I'd almost suspect your friends are trying to prank you by saying anything like 14. That's not normal, at least for a modern, westernized society.

For me, I COULD date 18, but I'd feel really weird about it, probably. The rule of thumb makes the girl I should date 24 years old at the youngest, which I think is fine. This is great because they're usually out of college, and we tend to have more in common.

An age could depend on maturity. It is also based on who you find desirable, but the limit should never exceed 10 years younger or older than you. Its not just because people could think your a rapist but its also because there can be many difficulties in relating to eachother and understanding. If you were 30 I would say the youngest is 20 (10 year difference) but since you are 23 and if you were to date someone 10 years younger they would be 13, i would say the youngest for you is 16 - 18.

About 16 is what I would say going by consent laws in my state (If you choose to be sexually active). My old high school, as with most, does not allow prom/homecoming dates over 21. Anyone under 16 is just pushing it , although isn't illegal to just date with NO sex whatsoever.

18.5 Divide your age in half and add 7. That's as low as you should go.  It would be disgusting to date a child, and that's what a 14 year I'd girl is. Ever hear of To Catch A Predator? Yeah.

Depends on where you are in life but if I was a 23 year old guy, I'd want 21 and over. Even though 18 is legal, people 18-20 are generally still a little immature and haven't had much experience in life and are still "babies."

18 minimum... I'd say the best is 20. I mean 18 year olds barely got out of high school, they're most likely very immature (not everyone). At 21 they've gone through some life experiences and independence. You don't wanna date a little girl man

Age of consent differs from state to state, 16-18. In my country the legal age is 16 but no one follows it if they get with a 15 or 14 year old but that like never happens though. I think 16 is a better number than 18.

My grandparents were 20 years apart, so personally I don't have an issue with huge age gaps (just wouldn't do it myself). I think the biggest socially acceptable age difference is 7 years though.
