When this site when it was first launched in the late 2000s it was supposed to be and still is meant to be, a place/community of anonymous and non-anonymous Girls and Guys, where we all ask and provide helpful opinions on regular or private questions (questions that the 'Asker' feels that they cannot ask anyone at all within their own family units and friendship circles).

The majority of users on here as well, even without using the Anonymous feature when asking questions, are anonymous.
Nearly all of us use a made up username, the only thing that can 'identify' you on here is your age. This has to match the one you used to sign-up/create an Email account.
Dating sites aren't anonymous most of the time and very public with the information that is provided, as the purpose is to text and call, arrange a date and then meet up in person.

Of course there are some users on here that use their real name as a username and a real picture of themselves as their profile picture etc. But most don't.

I've heard of some users in the past going out with each other having met on this site in the past, and it can be used for dating.
But the official purpose of the site was and still is purely like a forum/ask and provide an opinion site.

I thought that it wasn't, but I got blocked by a person who saw it as a dating site. But I looked through the settings and I can't find a "look for people this old, this close" in the settings, so I just treated it like a Q&A site. When I got blocked for not going in on his advances, I was a bit confused. So I am GLAD that the majority sees this as a Q&A. As long as there isn't a search for people option or maybe a date feature in it, like a slider like they do on Tinder, I see it as a Q&A.
