Would you mind if your date refused to disclose their real age?

I just met this man and we already got into an argument about this. He claims that he stopped counting after age 33 and doesn't want to be reminded of it. He also said that he thinks it's rude that I'm asking and that he would like to be respected in his choices concerning his very own self.

He’s being very selfish because he wants to still be able to date young women. How can a relationship happen here if he is lying from the start? Sounds like a control freak and possible narcissist. I know I’m 41 and won’t be dating 19 year olds on the frequent anymore. Still, I can workout and take care of my body to look like I am forever 30 years old, but I’m not going to lie about my age, especially to a woman I’m considering dating.
I know this man wouldn’t approve of things if roles were reversed. I’d run and run quick.

It kinda matters. Say you just forget about the age thing, relationship progresses and you get pregnant! Congrats! Except that little do you know baby daddy is like 6 months out from an assisted living facility and you will have to raise the kiddo by yourself. Oh and he had kids from his first wife and they're all grown fully planning on fighting you for every red cent in that estate.

When you met someone and you two really vibe they you both make it as easy as possible on each other to be together. So yeah, its weird and its a red flag to me... not so much about the age difference but the not be up front and honest part. Trust your instincts and move on... its a silly thing but honestly that's weird. Its just an indicator of thing to come and he is being selfish and inconsiderate.

Ask him if instead of going forward with age, if he's gone backward, because it seems like a childlike thing to do.

My Aunt was 39 for 39 years though. Refused to turn 40. It was a running joke with her for years. She just refused to tell. No one cared though.

The double standard though? Its impolite to ask a woman her age, yet you want to know his? Maybe you're the type that doesn't mind telling her age, or having it asked if you, so it's wrong for him not to reveal his?

Yes, I would. Lying about one's age has real world consequences---especially for a man if he's dating a girl who does this (she could be a minor and involve the man in legal trouble) Think, too: if this man is lying to you about his age, what wouldn't he lie to you about? He's talking to you about respect: why doesn't he respect you enough to tell you the truth?

Most people would probably mind if he doesn't say. Personally, I don't think the number really matters as much as the person, but everyone has their own preference and some care about ages.
