Do you think that language is important?

Just imagine that you really like someone and he/she does not speak English. What would you do?

I don’t think I would be able to like or be attracted to someone who does not speak English or doesn’t know English.

I can certainly be physically attracted to them, but beyond that, I don’t see how I could be attracted on an emotional level because there is a communication barrier that is far too difficult to surpass.

Communication is extremely important for me, in regard to any type of friendship or relationship. If I am not on the same level of communication with them, I cannot continue the friendship or relationship with them.

I can try to learn their native language, or they can try to learn mine, but it is still far too difficult for me to deal with at the moment, and it isn’t something I would want to try to spend my time on if I only like their physical appearance (granted, I don’t know their personality because I have not communicated with them…).

It's critical in dating or any relationship that your capable of communicating with each other. It would be sheer madness to get into a relationship with someone you couldn't even talk to.
