I can understand and imagine the situation you must have been in.
If I was your partner, I would have complimented other women in front of you, because those compliments should not matter to you. And they do not matter even to me.

You are someone who is irreplaceable in my life. And you must know this. One or two good sentences from me to other women should not be even considered by you. You are you, and they will always be them. That is a very clear distinction I would say.

I am nice to everyone, and keeping engaged is through complimenting them. Maintains good relations. That is what I have been doing through out the college.
