Guys, in what situations would you gift a girl a handbag for her birthday?

That I wasn't dating? Not likely. Nice bags are expensive, and I wouldn't give someone something that wasn't nice. Besides, handbags are very personal. How would I know what she wanted?

I have female friends, but I'm not that close to any of them. Besides, they all have their own money. It would be weird.

So means you would buy for the girl only if you're dating her?

Only if I knew it was something she wanted. I buy things for my wife. Last year for her birthday I took her shopping. At a resale shop we found two pairs of boots, one Gucci, one Prada, about $300 each. I bought both. I never buy her new because the things we can afford new aren't nearly as nice as the things we can afford at resale.
