Crush kissed on the cheek? Is she taken?

Hey, i have crush on someone i study with in my university, i have seen her 5 times so far and in all of those she sat next to this guy. Last time when everyone went home i saw him kiss her on the cherk. Should i assume they are together or is it only a kiss on the cheek? The reason i am in doubt is that for the two times that i have spoken with her, she smilled to me a lot and also in the first time we talked, she told my goodbye when the lecture ended even thugh we only talked at the the beginning of the lecture for 4 minutes when i intredouced myself to her, and asked her about study.( altough of curse its possible she was just being polite) Thanks.

The thing is do want to ask her out soon, but i dont want to make her uncomfortable if she has a boyfriend, and the only real way to find out is ask her out, but should i ask first if she has a boyfriend, or just let her reply to the date offer to asnwer that question?

I was under the impression that nowadays, everyone kisses everyone on the cheek and to me. it has no signification at all.

It seems very fashionable to do although I would never allow anyone to kiss me on the cheek, certainly not during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Also, is it really possible to have a crush on someone after seeing that person only 5 times and not really having interacted more than just a few minutes?

If that girl always selects to sit next to a specific person even though there are available seats elsewhere, then one could assume that there might be reciprocated liking between the 2.

Whatever the outcome, I would suggest you give this lady her space and don't attempt anything that could be misleading.

So in your opinion even thoguh a kiss on the cheek does not suggest they are dating (since beofre that i just thought they are just best friends, because they would not touch or laugh or even talk too much, but of course they dont have to do it while studying), that i should not ask her out, to not bother her for the chance that they are dating? By the way, i would only ask her out if we can get a bit closer, i dont want to come out of nowhere after only having two small talks and ask her out)

Personally, I would wait and see how the situation develops. If she persistently sits next to the other guy despite the fact that she has options to sit elsewhere, then the case is clear in my opinion.

Next time, try to sit behind the guy and observe how they behave during the lectures.

Just ask her out and if she has a boyfriend then move on. It shouldn't make someone uncomfortable if you aren't persisting after or weird about it

@Wubs3000 well i guess its a good way, the thing is i want to get closer to her before i aso her out, but if she does have a boyfriend eventually then it would suck having to invest all this time for something i could not do all the time because a suspicion i already had (that she has a boyfriend)
