Guys, Would you have this reaction towards a girl you found unattractive?

I walked into a shop because I made the wrong turning, I was just casually going to act like I was on my phone before walking outside and going out the same way again. So I’m on my phone and I glance up to see a girl on the top floor going up the stairs and then moving away from the glass. Right behind her comes a guy that looks familiar, he stops to bend down a little and take a look at the view of the ground floor (where I am). Does a little scan as he already starts to walk forward to follow the girl but then stops when he sees me. He walks a few steps back to get a better look and face me before putting one knee on the floor and putting his face a little closer to the glass trying to get a better look.

It’s my ex. He’s seen me and is probably wondering the same thing, if it’s me.

After a few seconds he gets up, still having his eyes on me and then turns around and walks away quite quickly, I see his mouth moving so he’s talking to the girl. I’m wondering if she’s asking him wtf he’s doing.

Anyway yeah, I walked straight out of that shop before any other awkward interaction. Why did he stop in his tracks? I didn’t really feel a connection to him so I’m not sure if it’s a romantic thing. What do you guys think? Would you do that if you saw your ex?
