Why hasn't he texted me?

Im 22 and in my last year of college. I've been seeing this boy in my year since early September, but it didn't get serious until end of October. He has always been bad at texting and is not on his phone much, but he always makes a consistent effort to see me when we are both in the same city. He treats me perfectly when we are together (takes me & pays on dates, introduced me to his friends, and tells me he really likes me, invited me to meet his family). A week ago he left for a 2 week work trip in Europe and he has not texted me the entire time. I miss him a lot, but do not want to text him first. Is he just not that into me? The confusion is making me rethink what we have.

He was alone, he rented a car (just to visit a Safari Park), as he drove into the monkey enclosure they jumped all over the car. Amazed by their opposable thumb, he got out to get a selfie with the monkeys, when suddenly a baboon leapt at him and fiercely took the phone. He was devastated as he watched is phone disappear into the interior of a continental European safari park. “How will I text my baby” he wondered as a lone tear rolled down his cheek. Then he smiled, content in the knowledge that she trusted him and would know that there was an issue w/ his phone when he didn’t text her that night. Oh wow, how wrong he was… Poor guy, he really thought you trusted him!
