If I was you, I would clear the air in a way that is not nickpicking. Reference, I must have missed your call or something along those lines. If he cares and he is busy then provide an opportunity for an explanation. Your inquiry also will make known that you expect to be treated with respect and kept abreast of things as they happen. It is simply good manners.
